  1. it would mean you have to behave every where

so not out of choice !!!

  2. i personally wouldn't. running into each other all the time, at work and at home, is too weird - especially if you're supposed to be out sick. and the question of economics (salary vs. rent) might get murky when you're haggling for better pay. and depending on the future boss' personality, it might not look good for him if his 'subordinate' can match his rent expense. the only good thing i can think of is that you'll have first dibs knowing what he does with his time at home, maybe make him your ally by joining that racketball session he has every weekend..unfortunately, he'll also know your comings and goings as well. too many disadvantages. consider the building next door.

  3. It would depend on many factors including..How big is your building (are you going to be running into him/her all the time, is he going to live above, below or beside you were he/she might catch wind of what you are doing inside your room or you could know what is going on in his or her room)? How well you know your boss (is he/she a friend of yours?) Is your boss a cool, laid back kind of person or a very strict, play by the rules kind of person?  Is he or she nice or a bit of a psycho?

One advantage would be carpooling to work and home and being able to get to know him or her on a personal level. Another would be lack of privacy, your boss feeling uncomfortable with you living in the same building and the possibility that you may loose your job in the future but still have to be neighbors. It may neither have any advantages or disadvantages. Eventhough you live in the same building, you may never see eachother except for work.

  4. Oh h**l NO!!  There are no advantages.
