Would you be risking being plagued with psychological problems for a number of years, with risk to your subsequent behaviour.

Would you be risking this scenario <Something seems to have happened to him in his mid-thirties. He developed this defeatist mentality which slowly eroded his strength of character and he lost sight of things most reliable to him, such as his personal relationships ... which culminated in the subject's behaviour.>

Would you be risking becoming <pessimistic, depressed, isolated in recent years ... and emotionally withdrawn.>

Would you be risking this scenario "I was delusional in my thinking, I lost my values, I lost my way. I did what I did because I wasn't hurting anyone."

  1. A few years of service in the submarine arm, with some active deployment at sea, including many hours of dived sorties and hours on surface in heavy sea states, renders a tough guy tougher still, and weaker guy risking mental balance as above! So also the high altitudes where the OG men try out their strength, mental&physical, and stamina, while deployed on patrol and exercise duties! A computerization project could have some similar potential, unless one takes some basic precautions like training in stress management, lessons in meditation techniques and relaxation! In all the above occupations, most times, no one gets hurt -- except the key player himself, perhaps!

  2. 1/One initiative might be to build up a network of supportive people, if only to escort each other in and out of the buildings without being harrassed.

2/You might be able to get things put on file so the big boss can see what is happening.

3/Just say no. The longer you hesitate in saying no, the greater the chance of you agreeing to the committment sought.

  3. This sounds like classic "nincompoop in a key position in an organization".

  4. Modern workplaces have gymnasiums etc.

Much of the work should be being done by machines, overnight. If it's not, it means there's a rogue worker at the helm.

Much of the testing should be done by rerunning automated overnight factory tests. If it's not, it means there's a rogue worker at the helm.

If there's a rogue worker at the helm, it's likely they have been covering up, are covering up ,and will continue to cover up.

  5. To paraphrase Krishnamurta, "It is no measure of mental health to be well-balanced in a society that is profoundly f*cked up."

  6. The organization ideally needs to be able to say "We know why we never have problems". It may not be yet at that stage.

  7. Sounds like there is someone onboard who is generating psychological problems which rebound on third parties, but somehow using "equity" legislation so as to be immune rom prosecution.
