  1. dont beleive much of wat people say here! pls! lol.well first of all everything has pros and cons just like private and public.in public kids learn how to be more social, but are easily distracted and become ignorant and peer pressured.Home school is good for learning but ur kids might not socialize too much.i think home school is better,i would think grades are more important than friends, thats my opinion,do what fits u best ;)

  2. I say it's better.

You've got less idiots surrounding you doing stupid things throughout the day.

You go at your own pace, do things how you want to do them, you don't have a class of 30 students learning at a difference pace.

Independent study is different than homeschooling - homeschooling your parents teach you and laws vary by state - independent study, you meet with a teacher once a week or so and they give you your assignments and grade things and junk.

I did independent study half of high school and did GREAT in that, did terribly in public school.

I think you'll do fine- but obviously you'll see a lot less of people. This wasn't a problem for ME, but a LOT of people get really lonely and bored. Don't loose touch with your old friends, you'll get lonely real fast.

  3. I think home-schooling is better as long as the student also has plenty of social opportunities. For example, some home-schoolers learn in small groups with other home-schoolers and therefore they get plenty of interaction with other students their own age.

Also, home-schoolers can still join sports teams at the local YMCA or at church to get practice socializing with kids their own age.

The problem with public school or private school is that it is BORING as heck for the students and the teachers.

The teachers have to 'dumb down' the lessons for the masses of average kids and so the pace can be pretty slow for the above average students and then they get bored.

Remember the old school houses in which one teacher taught maybe 20 kids of all ages and they learned AT THEIR OWN PACE, unlike schools now in which the whole class learns at the same SNAILS pace so the slower kids can keep up.

Also, with so many kids in one class, the teachers today have to spend a lot of time dealing with behavior problems instead of teaching.

  4. Okay sorry I was in a rush to my piano lesson before and didn't get to write an answer best to my ability.

So anyway. It really depends on the person. Like my friend she lives in Australia - she went to a all girls school and she didn't like it so she started home schooling. Then after that she decided to go to a public school with heaps of students. That was short lived and she didn't like it cause she had social and anxiety problems. I asked her which one would she prefer and she said that home-schooling is way better for her cause she being around heaps of people makes her nervous.

I have a friend that goes to a boarding private? school and she says its better than public co-ed school cause everyone is very close and the classes are smaller so you learn better - you don't have to wait for the teacher to put up with naughty kids and all.

I attend a public high school with nearly 2000 students. It's co-ed and I say that I enjoy it cause you meet heaps of new people. There are also heaps of options and varieties of subjects to choose from which is great. I don't mind it but I sometimes get pissed off cause there are a few naughty kids in my class that pisses off the teacher and then our learning time gets cut. But sometimes it's funny but I love it in general.

Each time have pro's and con's . it all comes down to what suits you the best and what makes you comfortable.

    :)

  5. Homeschooling can be better because it's safer and you get the most attention as a student; you can move at an individual pace, which is great for gifted or special needs students.  You do lose the socialization aspect, but you can always sign the child up for extracurriculars.  I say, if you're able to swing homeschooling, go for it.

  6. Socialization is just as big of a part of growing up as the actual classwork.

I found that private school was a better choice for my daughter as the classes were smaller and that allowed more time for individualized teaching.

I personally believe that you hinder your child by not allowing them the "normal" things that so many of their peers would enjoy....Prom, Homecoming.......

  7. It's worse! Public school is where kids learn how to socially interact with other people their own age. Don't deny them that opportunity.

  8. regular school is better i would get tired of one setting, plus you would miss out on a lot of learning that you can get with all the different relationships that are created at school, i.e, student, student, friends, and enemy as well.
