  1. Kneeboarding and surfing are competely different activities which makes it dificult to say wether one is more difficult than the other. I have kneeboarded and know that is is pretty easy to get the hang of after a coupe tries. Doing tricks however takes a little more paitents.

  2. i think knee boarding is easy you fall a couple times but you get the hang of it pretty fast!

  3. I grew up surfing, but have taught at least 2,500 "students" to kneeboard, waterski, wakeboard and barefoot.

If you are asking is it easier to get up on a kneeboard vs a surfboard, then I would say a kneeboard.  Reasons, you have more control with a boat, then you do a wave.  Timing is not as critical for getting up on a kneeboard vs a surfboard.  Note that one must "time" the wave in order to catch it, once the wave passes you're "out".

If you are asking is it easier to learn tricks on a kneeboard vs a surfboard, then I would say a kneeboard.  Reasons, once again more control with a boat.  Far more time to develope a trick on a kneeboard than a surfboard.  With a boat one can control when, where, how, etc.  With a wave one can take only what is given.

There are other factors involved.  The boat driver is one of the most important.  Good driver = better and faster results.  The physical abilities of the "student"---both strength and coordination are equivalent to ones aptitude to learn.  And of course ones mental ablity to listen to instruction and process, I call this "body learning".  Lastly, the instructor/teacher.

I have taught others to surf, but with a limited number of friends and family, the learning process seem to progress at a slower rate.  As for kneeboarding, I have seen my "students", learn to do 180s and 360s by the end of the first day of instruction (this is not uncommon).  Whereas, I have rarely known novice surfers to trick their first day out.

    Happy Boarding!
