Would you say "sorta" or "sort of"?

Let's say you're talking to someone. That someone asks you a question. You're answer to the question is a yes and a no, so you say a word that means that. That word is sorta/sort of. Which would you say? Sorta... or Sort of? Which of the two would you normally use if you were to use either of them?

  1. It depends on whether I respected the person's intelligence or not. I would use "sorta" in informal situations, or when I wanted to indicate that the intent was results would be uncertain. "Sorta, kinda..."

    I say 'sort of'
