Would you say that journalists are respected people?

For the most part, yes. However, no matter what profession a person is in, respect has to be earned by the way they handle themselves in that profession. If the journalist reports fairly and accurately, reports all sides of the story, doesn't interject personal theories, doesn't make things up, etc......they will be respected.
