im a junior in high school just so you know...my topic is "female characters range from weak to strong. rank any three." im ranking mattie, lou ann, and taylor.
Saint Francis students had to read Barbara Kingsolver’s novel Bean Trees during the summer. The novel is about a woman named Taylor, who is roughly twenty five years old in the 1990s. She travels to Tucson, Arizona so she won’t be stuck in Kentucky and get pregnant like most girls around her age. Turtle, a three year old Indian girl, is given to Taylor outside a diner. She has no choice but to take the child with her to Arizona, where she ends up living with a woman, Lou Ann and her son, Dwayne Ray. Taylor meets another woman, Mattie, who works in Jesus is Lord Tires and gets a job there. These three women including Taylor range from very weak to very strong. Lou Ann is a very weak woman, Taylor has her weak moments along with her strong moments, and Mattie is an overall strong woman.
I had to include that we had to read it over the summer, mention authors full name, summarize the novel and mention the main characters, setting and thesis. corrections would be great.
