My day
The following dialog happened at 8:30 a.m. while seeing
my second patient of the day. This gentleman is in the later stages
of Alzheimer’s disease. I have been assessing his response to a change in
medication unrelated to Alzheimers…
the principles are Cyn, the nurse and Jack, the patient. The dialog is verbatim.
Cyn: “Good morning, Jack. How do you feel todayâ€Â
Jack: “ I feel goodâ€Â
Cyn: “What are you doing today?â€Â
Jack: “I’m looking for something I lostâ€Â
Cyn: “I hope you can find it.â€Â
Jack: “I can’t remember what it is.â€Â
Cyn: “You’re doing so well, I think next week will be your last visit from me.â€Â
Jack: “That’s OK, just click your heels three timesâ€Â
Cyn: “ Bye, Jackâ€Â
Jack: “Rememberâ€Â
