Right now I am debating on schools for my daughter I have given up on public school after the poo her school tried to pull and considering sending her to a private school. My daughter is 9 and there are 2 schools she could apply for, but when I was looking over policies I noticed one school said they still use the paddle. I am not quite sure if I want that they say there is a slip I could sign which would exempt her, but I am not sure I could send her to a school that did that; but on the other her hand the public school and some discipline problems and I bet the kids are more behaved or the class is better controlled how about that. Would you send your kid to a school that still practiced cp?

  1. no.  punish your kids YOURSELVES in whatever way you want.  I don't think schools should be doing that.

  2. Heck yes. I'm all for spanking kids. It's not abuse, it's teaching. As long as they don't overdo it, it's not a big deal. The reason kids today are so spoiled and uncontrollable is because of the softer punishment, or lack of punishment. I mean sometimes a time-out just isn't gonna cut it.

  3. NO! I would have a huge problem with it if anyone layed a hand on my daughter, let along a paddle! Absolutely not!

  4. I have heard this question before.

  5. All 3 of my daughters attended a private school which used the paddle, rarely, but never-the-less had the option available.

As a whole, I would prefer to do the spanking if my child deserved it.  But the school has its reasons to paddle and feels the need to execute punishment themselves.

Of the 3, my eldest is the only 1 to have experienced the paddle.  She had been caught cheating and the school called to inform me that she was to be spanked.  I came to the school to witness the event.  Frankly, it was overly mild and did not seem like much of a spanking.  She bent over a desk and the headmistress tapped her bottom with the paddle 5 times, across her skirt.  I then took her home and gave her bare bottom a proper spanking with my hand.  Before I spanked her, no signs of redness at all.

Years later, my eldest told me that the paddling did not hurt and she was more embarrassed by the paddling because the other girls in her class knew she had been paddled; despite it being in private.

On the other hand, I attended public schools which paddled.  I still remember the horrible pain from 3 swats of the principal's board.  I was given a choice of 3 swats or suspension when I was in 11th grade.  I chose the paddling because I had ideation of going to a top college; suspension would have ruined my grades.

  6. NO, NO, NO

Corporal punishment went out of favor in about 1949, with lots of research to support its banishment.  Kids might obey and be quiet out of fear, but they won't be curious, inquisitive or willing to ask good questions.

I suggest that you look at

    Find another school, please!!!

  7. Absolutely not! No one should be able to punish your child like that. Your child will be humiliated and become to hate school, which means they will be less likely to thrive in their school work and succeed later on.

  8. If it was a better school academically, I would consider it.

But you better believe I'd make sure they knew that paddle was off limits when it comes to my child.

  9. h**l NO!

  10. Not hard for me to answer. I would send my child to a school that uses corporal  punishment. They have given you an option. You will find out that a class room that is controlled by the teacher is a classroom where students can and will learn. It establishes self control and discipline for the kids.

  11. yes if you are having problems controling her.

  12. h**l NO! thats dumb for them to do that I have been married for 4 months I have 5 step kids and I wouldnt let any of them go...yeah the kids hate me but I still wouldnt let them go I hate people that send their kids to schools like that

  13. Never!

(or I would but I would sign that slip to exempt her)

  14. There are different types of corporal punishment.  If it just said Corporal punishment, it could mean a variety of things.  when I was in the Army, Corporal Punishment usually meant pushups, sit-ups, or some other exercise.  However, there are some schools that still practice "spanking" as a means of corporal punishment.  They are not public schools, and they have to have your consent.

While it may seem violent, corporal Punishment such as spanking has been used for hundreds, if not thousands, of years to punish children for misbehavior.  While it is a good deterrent and a way to prevent children from causing problems, it can also cause problems with development if used excessively.  It's difficult to balance how much is enough and how much is too much.

You should definatly look into it for more information because if your daughter is well behaved and you don't need to worry about her getting spanked there, the private school could definatly have much better results.  At the same time, if she is misbehaved, it could cause a positive change in attitude and behavior.

    In a short answer however:

I would send my kid to a school that used corporal punishment, but I would definatly want to make sure it was closly monitored and not excessive.

  15. Pain never hurt anyone.

  16. h**l yeah, she'd smarten up.

But why PAY someone to beat your kid for you?  We all need a little exercise sometimes lol

  17. No, no and did I mention h**l no?  I would never allow anyone to BEAT my child.  And with a paddle?  That is illegal; it is considered child abuse to use any object other than a hand to swat your child.  I went to a Baptist school in my youth and they did this to me.  To this day, I resent my parents for sending me there, and the sadistic people at that school who did it.

  18. absolutely

  19. that is not there job that is your job if u want to spank her that is up to you but do not send her that is not the schools job
