Do you think it is difficult for grown people, especially those in their forties and fifties, whose parents and possibly grandparents are still living to understand those who lost one or both of their parents and grandparents at an early childhood age? Do you think that it affects their perception of "family" and life in general? Also, do you think it affects their self- confidence and ability to be "successful" in life to have their parents through mid- life? If so, please share an example if you have one. Thanks!

  1. I think if we stick to what is good and desirable and lovable in life, we can create a family around us even if there is not necessarily a blood connection.

It is always good to learn from mistakes, from our own and from the ones that others are making

  2. My husband and I are sadly both on the wrong side of that fence. We both lost our fathers at a young age... and have no grandparents left. (I was 12 when my father pased away, and in that very same year both of HIS parents-my grandparents- passed away.) Both my and my husband's mothers have since remarried, but neither of us have a close bond with our stepfathers.

While I can't speak for those whom had their ancestors around...  I can say that I think my own life would have been very different if my dad was still around. For one, I would have had a complete understanding of money at a young age instead of having to figure it all out on my own and reinvent the wheel. (My dad was an accountant extraordinaire. lol. My mom has not a clue in this area, and I am now the one teaching her.)

So in that regard, I would think that someone that has their parents through adulthood would be able to learn more about adult life through that association... but since I haven't been there, I really can't be a hundred percent sure.

Sorry, that probably didn't help much. I'll give ya a star, maybe someone else can help!
