  1. home cooked is not the same as "from scratch'' top c.

maybe it would depend on exactly how much of your grocery list you dont have to buy. i think it would save some money but it would take more time & when you're hungry you jus wanna eat

  2. usually home cooked food is cheaper  unless you eat lobster every night

  3. Spend more TIME but spend less MONEY

  4. More time, some of the time. If you make and freeze some things ahead of time, it can be a saver.

  5. I believe you spend less money if you make it yourself, than going out to eat or take out every day.I save about $500.00 a year making lunches for two people for work.

  6. if you cook from scratch often, you end up saving a lot.

if you only cook from scratch once in a while, you don't save money.

example: I want cake. I don't usually make cake, so if I want to make one myself  I have to go to the store and buy: flour, sugar, eggs milk, oil, baking powder, baking soda, chocolate, vanilla, etc. that ends up costing more than going to a coffee shop and buying a slice of cake, if you're never going to bake again. (these things spoil eventually, even flour and baking powder)

If you bake cake once a week you'll probably already have all these ingredients fresh at home, so you'll buy flour and baking powder once and make some 15 cakes for $10 bucks, thereby saving money.

  7. you would have to get a lot of stuff to make every thing from scratch lets talk butter to make butter you need cream and salt and something to make it in, you need a lot of heavy cream to make one pound of butter it can cost twice what you would pay for butter and your time too try it put 2 cups heavy cream in a jar with some salt not too much then put a clean clothespin in and put the lid on then shake it for 8 to 10 minuets until you get butter drain out the liquid you have butter. tomato sauce the some I can get tomatoes for about $1.25 lb you need a lot of roma tomatoes to get a good amount of sauce and you need spice and other items in it. bread can cost a lot to make too. I get a jar not the packages  of yeast a package cost about the same as two loafs of bread plus you have to get other stuff too. mayo is something that cost less to make then bye it takes 1 egg 1 1/2 cup oil some vinegar or lemon juice and a good hand blender but watch out for salmonella  or just get expensive pasteurized eggs.

  8. Definitely less, depending on what you are making. The less ingredients a recipe has, the cheaper it is to make. If you stick with ingredients you use a lot, it saves you more than if you have to buy special ingredients. I make pretty much everything from scratch. I try to make meals that I can use for other meals.

I will cook a roast for dinner and get beef dip sandwiches, beef taquitos, roast beef with vegetables and beef burritos out of it. I get at least 3 meals for a family of 3 out of it. I buy the biggest roast they have to save money. I grow tomatoes and peppers to make my own salsa and spaghetti sauce, then I can it for future use.

  9. cheaper because most of the things you need come in big quantities so u can make alot more things later times ex flour it lasts for quite a few things to make and isnt that much , and buying bread costs about the same as one bag of flour and it wont last long . the only thing that would be expensive is veggies but then again you can grow your own!
