  1. aaaah that would be wonderful :)

but its still not right to force this huge lifestyle change on everyone...for instance, if there was a new law saying everyone had to be a meat eater, i would be so mad and probably go kill someone :P haha

I agree with the thing about forcing truth in advertising. A lot of people don't know what happens to animals used for food because the industry covers it up so well.

but yeah, it would be awesome if more people became vegetarian! :D

  2. No, I'm vegan and it is not my right to force my highly intellectual evolution onto you.

I would support a law that forced truth in advertising.  The USDA has too many conflicts of interests with the food companies.  We do not need milk for calcium!

  3. No, but I would support a federal law banning all pesticides, chemicals, and added hormones in food!!!!

  4. No I would not support it. People have a right to whatever diet they choose and no one not even government has the right to say otherwise. Why is it people always want to push their agendas and lifestyles on others. I eat meat and no veggie can taste as good as a T-Bone steak

  5. WTF!!!! omg!

first of all, if the government ever tried to do anything like that...there won't be a government, they would all suddenly mysteriously "evaporate".

second, if you do support, you got to be pretty selfish...just because you believe in something, not everybody has to do wat you do...

third, i would personally attack the government with hatemail...with many others

    forth...thats absolutely ridiculous...

    fifth...you have a large imagination...

  6. That is probably one of the most ridiculous suggestions for a law you can ever come up with. I'll give up my double cheeseburgers and barbecue pork sandwiches when you pry them from my cold, dead hands.

  7. Well it wouldn't make any difference to me as I don't live in the US.

But no, I wouldn't. I'm vegan but I have other priorities as far as changing the law goes. And such a law would be unenforceable.

  8. Sweetie, read our constitution and bill of rights over again. I'm a veggie myself, but I don't want to live in a dictatorship, where the government controls every aspect of our daily lives.

I would support stricter animal cruelty laws. Making the meat industry follow the old Kosher type laws, that require humane treatment of animals, would greatly reduce their suffering.

  9. Not sure what you mean, but it sounds a little ridiculous.  You can't force vegetarianism on others, nor can you police it among those who practice it.  And no, I would not support it.

  10. Definately not! Food consumption is a choice. The law should not be able to tell people what they can and cannot eat. How would people like it if we banned fruits and veggies, or forced people to eat meat?

  11. I would definitely support it. Whatever the short-term economic and social repercussions are things would balance out in the long-run plus the animals, environment and our health would all be better off.

There are plenty of laws that restrict our rights for the benefit of the community. Generally these laws are in place to protect others from acts like drug taking and murder. Well by being vegetarian we would protect ourselves and animals.

I can't see it happening or working but the idea is still gold.

  12. Hmm, well, let's see.  Most Americans would be outraged, the animals in farms would either have to be killed our run amok where they destroy the ecosystem, and millions of jobs would be laid off, causing an economic depression.  So, no, I would not support it.

  13. I'm in Texas. We invented bbq. So, I reckon not. A law like that would be cause for secession.

    Long live the Republic!

  14. No, although I'm all for the idea of everyone becoming vegetarian, I don't think it should be forced like that.

What would be better is legislation to make farming more humane, or require all meat, dairy, and eggs to qualify as organic.  This would have the added effect of raising prices, thereby reducing the demand for meat.  Unfortunately, there probably wouldn't be too much support for that legislation either.

  15. I would support a law to make the actual killing of an animal illegal (I think all forms of murder should be illegal; it is not up to the law to discriminate; imagine if it were only legal to murder black people) and to be honest I think there will be a law like that in the future. Unfortunately, the law won't be created until a large number of people are already vegetarian anyway, so it won't change much.

  16. no, i would not.....

while i am a vegetarian myself and would certainly encourage others to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle, i don't believe that it would be right for the government to force that upon anyone.

i would much rather the government just enforce more humane methods of farming.

  17. Hi, No I wouldn't support it, I think people need to make their own choice for their diet. Although it would be good for more people to go vegetarian.

Maybe a law with stricter animal welfare policies and a ban on factory farming, this would be a good start! :)

  18. This has got to be the #1 @zzinine question of the week. Of course not.

God put men on earth to be carnivorous-not eat grass.

  19. Only if you support a new federal law that you kneel and pray to the almighty cheeseburger 12 hours a day in return. What's next, elect ole Bessie the milk cow for president?

That is about as stupid and hypocritical as a proposal can get. You harp about the "rights" of animals and at the same time porpose curtailing the rights of fellow humans. It contradicts the very fundamental principle the country was founded on. It insults the efforts and sacrifices of those who died preserving the very right you are enjoying sitting in front of your computer.

Reminder to asker: You eat veggies, you don't smoke them

  20. No, that would be a violation of human rights. I support animal rights, and humans are animals too. :)

  21. I doubt it'll ever happen, but we can hope :)

    I would totally support it.

  22. In the U.S.? good luck with that dream

  23. no i would not support this,

  24. definitely. it would never work though.

  25. I'm a vegetarian, but I'd pack my bags and move to Canada. We have enough laws that are supposidly for our own good, like the da m n seat belt law.

    ********** Let freedom ring ********

  26. No, I wouldn't.

Would you support a law enforcing strict Toaism in the United States?

  27. Absolutely not.

The federal government has no jurisdiction on this matter. Read the 9th and 10th amendments of the US Constitution if you doubt it. If attempted, this would be just another "feel-good" legislation used to buy votes from a special interest group.

Besides the legality of it, the fact that Homo sapians are omnivorous would make it impractical if not unhealthy. I'll keep my steaks for protien, thank you.

  28. No way!  The government has their nose in enough of our business as it is.  When they start paying my mortgage, they can tell me how to eat.  Until then, I will enjoy my vegetarian diet on my own terms.

  29. U.S. is a democratic country

  30. NO. But I would support a law banning all animal slaughter.

That would either encourage all our citizens to become vegetarian or pay heavy excise taxes on imported meat products.  There's more than one way to accomplish what you're suggesting.

Edit- The constitution does protect freedom of choice but it is also supposed to protect life.  We could  am-mend it to include non-human sentiment beings.  Southern planter plutocracy argued about constutional rights, states rights, etc. in their choice of owning black slaves and then disenfranchising free blacks during the Jim Crow era.   I don't see non-human animal slavery as much of a difference. Same concept different species.

  31. I would kill for my right to make my own choices so my answer would be no!
