Profit is excess income over expenditures.

Corporate profits come from we the people.

WE the people MAKE the products we buy.

WE the people PROVIDE the services we use.

Corporate leaders profit from all our efforts.

They live in luxury on the fruits of our labors.

Excessive profits indicate excessive pricing.

Here is how you know.

Conservatives and Republicans are found of saying.

Government budget surplus indicates over taxation.

Taxes are the charge for Government provided products and services.

Surplus in the public sector equals profit in the private sector.

If Surplus means taxes should be cut, excessive profits means prices should be cut,

Except Corporate leaders do not and will not share the bounty equitably.

They will not give back any of your money in the form of price cuts.

Instead they form fanciful arguments to fool you into allowing the fleecing to continue.

Unless and until we the people wake up, this robbery will continue.

  1. Once upon a time....The free market kept corporate profits in check, when large companies got greedy and charged us to much, smaller upstart companies under cut them and forced prices down.As greedy big business went belly-up small business would soar up from their ashes, much like the proverbial phoenix.

That was long before big business bought washington with it`s huge lobbying firms.Small business can no longer compete against the mega corporations. The playing field is to uneven.Excess profits tax would help even that field.Wake up people, Exxon mobile,is not your friend.Excessive profits taxing isn`t about socializing the American dream. It`s about taxing excessive profit. It`s about huge corporations, crawling in through the window and smothering you and your family while you lay sleeping.

  2. It has been said that "Those who bite the hand that feeds them, also l**k the boot that kicks them."  I am all for personal wealth, opportunity and reward.  I do not believe in redistribution of wealth.  I believe that those who make good life decisions should be rewarded justly and those who make poor decisions too should reap their just deserts.  I believe in the seniority system, that those who have been with the company longer should have reflective pay of that fact - having everything to do with loyalty, and that in that seniority system, there is also a hiarchy in which the guy most responsible should be paid justly.  As a business owner myself, I should be paid more than my employees.  I do NOT believe in punishing those businesses and people who do well.  I do not believe in the Robbin Hood Syndrome in which we steal from the successful and reward those who have failed or did not even try.  The robbery you suggest, is only when you take from those who have succeeded.

So, who determines what is "Fair?"  I could not get a job in either of my fields of expertise.  My wife and I opened a dog grooming shop.  We have several employees and we do quite well against big business entities such as PetSmart.  We are now looking to expand our business, it's growing at a rate faster than we can handle.  From the perspective of the other grooming shops in our area, we are now considered "Big Business."  We got this way by hard work and attention to detail.  So, by your stand, those who've not done as well as we should now have a say in how much we should be allowed to make?  That hardly seems "Fair."  Now does it.

As for lobbyists, Ben Franklin was a lobbyist.  Eisenhower's departing words were a warning about lobbyists gaining too much influence.  Kennedy chose to ignore those warnings as he chose to ignore a number of Ike's policies and warnings.

  3. ehhh, no.  i wont support excessive profits tax.  The free market drives down prices plain and simple.  furthermore, when rich people get richer a wondrous thing happens.  THey spend it and invest it in a fashion that is very market efficient.  So money has a greater chance of getting re-circulated into your pocket if you are an enterprising young chap.  When the government taxes the money and redistributes it, money is recirculated in a very market inefficient fashion making it harder and taking longer to end up in your pocket if you are an enterprising young chap.

  4. In fact we should create some form todo work on this, after all consumer should not be cheated, our govt works only for corporates and give benefits to them never think and do for simple peoples. defnitily i agree with writer.
