  1. Yes, I think it would be a great idea. The roads are much more hazardous than they were 50 years ago when the laws were made.

  2. No

  3. there are may pro's and con's for upping the legal driving age to 18.  you have to look at it from all angles.

    pro's (not all inclusive):

-would give the new drivers more time to mature thus making the roads (potentially) safer

    -few drivers on the road

con's (from a parents perspective;  not all inclusive):

-would you want you child, whose only been driving maybe a few months, to go to college with a car, with thousands of other new drivers within just a few miles?

-would you want to chauffeur you son or daughter, or would they want to be chauffeured, to and from a date for an extra two, or more, years?  (i'd find that rather embarrassing for your teenager;  but it may also lower teen pregnancy rates)

there are many things to consider on subject such as these;  these are just a few so think about.

  4. No.  Inexperience at 18 is just like inexperience at 16.

  5. no but i'd put a limit on the older age range

  6. Yes..............................

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 15- to 20-year olds.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 3,490 drivers in this age group died in motor vehicle crashes in 2006 and an additional 272,000 were injured.

Drivers age 15- to 20-years old accounted for 12.9 percent of all the drivers involved in fatal crashes and 16 percent of all the drivers involved in police-reported crashes.

Twenty-five percent of teen drivers killed were intoxicated. In 2002 (latest data available) the estimated economic cost of police-reported crashes involving drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 was $40.8 billion, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Among licensed drivers, young people between the ages of 15 and 20 have the highest rate of fatal crashes relative to other age groups, including the elderly. In fact, the risk of being involved in a fatal crash for teens is three times greater than for drivers age 65 to 69.

Immaturity and lack of driving experience are the two main factors leading to the high crash rate among teens.

  7. thats a no,  u might ask why well come down to florida and see for your self  i think we should work on a limit to how old u can be drivin  couse next time i see a 100 year old women on the road im preaty sure i rather have an 18 year old who still knows wat driving is and can see and hear normal  if they wanna run tests on age and limits they need to check out florida   i been hit 4 times by old ppl even though i was just drivin normal on my own lane theyre to blind to see or hear when i honk,  2nd thing never buy new car down here its gonna get trashed preaty easy in this big retirement home

  8. heckkk noooo x10000. I am a 13 year old, and I am soo excited when I turn 16. driving is soo much fun! but i do think that older people also cause badd accidents, so their should be a limit of how old u are when u STOP driving.

  9. Wow, that's a hard one. If driving age was changed to 18 then a lot of parents will be angry about driving their kids everywhere.

However, I think a great compromising suggestion is to have any drivers under the age of 18 to be on a probational driving period. The license can be taken away if they cause any accidents or drive wrecklessly. Undergo state driving classes, or whatever if bad drivers are what you are concerned about.

It really takes 2 years to be a good and safe driver due to all the different streets, highways, and new neighborhoods popping up everywhere. I will probably say " no" to moving the driving age to 18, but I will probably start teaching my kids to drive alot earlier, maybe 14 years old. But don't worry, I will always be by their side until they get any actual license.

  10. for what purpose?

to "delay" the idiots from getting on the road?

i know some 14 year olds that are better drivers than most 18 - 50 year olds...

the tests need to be harder...and should be re-taken every 3 years when the license is renewed......
