Doctor was not in so nurse called in medicine for my son's eye, it's pink and it's gooey and was closed shut this morning, I got him some medicine YESTERDAY night and I don't think it's okay for him to be around the kid's at school since he could still be contagious. Isn't it true that your supposed to wait 24 hours after you start the medicine before you take your child back to school from any illness or sickness? He is 7 and today is friday all he will miss is the normal daily class directions, and fun time, and spelling test but he can take that monday

  1. I think they need to be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school.  Most school districts require a doctors note  saying that the child has been on the meds for 24 hours and they can return because although it wont be contagious anymore,..there will probably still be symptoms.  If his eye is still pink, the school is just going to send him home if he does not have a note.

  2. no you should give the med 24 hrs to take affect

  3. No. He will be laughed at.

  4. I wouldn't let him go to school.

  5. Sounds like pink eye to me which is extremely contagious and no I wouldnt send him to school because even with him on meds if it is still draining the school will send him home.  Let him sleep in and spend the day with mom.

  6. Keep him home, he may be contagious.  Don't want him to spread his pink eye germs!!!!  Afterall, some kid gave it to your son!

He'll feel better in no time!

    Better safe than sorry!

  7. Don't send him, he may still be contagious, and the school will probably send him home anyway.

  8. I think you are definitely right for keeping him home. He probably does have pink eye which is very, very contagious. don't second guess yourself when it comes to your kids, you always go with your gut instinct.
