i have been testing since cd 10 and all light negative lines... i took one today cd 14 at 1pm and got what looks like a positive (both lines same color). i took another at 630 pm and it was a very light line. i posted another question a second ago to see what others think about comparing all my opks, but is it normal for a surge to be gone within a few hours? and does this look positive or negative to you?

  1. That looks positive to me!

  2. I would count that as a positive

  3. It looks negative to me, sorry!

I say this because the test line must be the same or darker than the reference line.  The pic shows a lighter test line.

Maybe the other test which showed a positive was faulty? I doubt the surge would be gone within a few hours.

Don't give up hope! keep testing and you soon will get a positive OPK result!

    Good luck with TTC! xOx

I'm sure the people saying positive think you're using a HPT! Below is the info to back up my answer (even if I am the only one saying it! :-)))

How do I read the results of an OPK? This is very important: OPK's are not read like HPT's. An OPK has a "control" line and a "test" line, just like an HPT. Unlike an HPT, however, the mere presence of a "test" line does not mean the test is positive. The test line must be as dark as, or darker than, the control line to be a positive result (meaning that a surge was detected, rather than the ordinary amount of LH usually found in your urine every day.)

Is it normal to see 2 lines all the time? It is very common. Most women produce LH almost all the time, and the OPK will detect it, giving you a "test" line that is lighter than the control line. About 12-36 hours before ovulation occurs, there will be a surge in LH, and the test line will become as dark as, or darker than, the control line.

    Regarding your edit:

It is a very good sign that you have cramps and especially the slight ache in one particular side. I would say, from my experience, that ovulation could be close.  Keep checking daily (I've heard it's preferable to test at the same time each day).  Trust me, be patient and it will happen!! I know it's sooo hard to be patient when it's something you want so much!

Do you have a condition which affects your fertility?  If you do and you rarely ovulate it's worth going for regular scans of the ovaries to check for eggs.

But It sounds like it's in the process of happening to you now...

I genuinely wish you all the best with TTC. I sooo know it's not easy!

Edit #2 (do i ever shut up??)

Sometimes it's nice to be able to talk to people in the position as yourself.  I for one don't know nobody going through the same thing as me! I talk to friends and some family but it's not the same.  They don't understand the struggle as much as they may try.

Clomid made me very emotional, close to tears over stupid adverts on TV! It will pass :-)

The tests (when looked at together) look like they get progressively darker until the last.  I say keep testing and hopefully they will continue getting darker (hopefully the last test was faulty)  You def sound like you're getting the same symptoms as me with the cramping etc when I was coming close to ovulating.  When on Clomid you should at least be given a blood test around expected ovulation day to either confirm it's working or discover if you need a higher dosage.  I've read that with PCOS OPK's do funny things! do you have PCOS? x

    Edit #3

I will email you.. we can exchange our stories and encourage each other! Especially since we both have no one we know who has gone through the same!  You seem to be in the same situation as me.  Metformin is meant to be good.. I use it although have no positive results as yet (except the terrible stomach cramps and being forever in the toilet!).

It would be great for you to be diagnosed either way.  You will be able to be treated correctly.  If it is PCOS you should remember that it is treatable and you should eventually get pregnant, it just takes time.  There are many things which can be done.  I must shut up and go now... it's nearly 2am here in London and I have to be up for work soon :-(  I will email you soon.  Take care. P.S. hope the OPK shows a dark line tomorrow!! keep my fingers crossed for you! x

  4. I too would say its positive

  5. POSITIVE

  6. Super positive. I'm positive about that ;) I've had 2 pregnancies and thats what the test look like. Make an appointment with ur doctor. Good luck
