  2. "Believe" ? Or "know" ? Best scientific data suggests that it's a nickel-iron composition core. Since we can't go down yet and sample it, it'll be hard to "prove" anything. But I think the scientists have a pretty reliable guess as to what is down there.

  6. It is a solid iron nickel inner core and liquid iron nickel outer core.

  8. 2 parts, the first is a large ball of Iron-nickel alloy with various trace elements. It is estimated that it's about 5000-6000 degrees C but is kept solid due to the intense pressure. It's estimated to have a 1200Km radius.

    Just outside that is a liquid outer core of a similar composition. It is known to be liquid as it can't transmit shear waves.
