i ride a bus in the rural area and in order to get on the bus i must be driven 10 miles to a stop. i hate it. i can drive with a school permit, but my parents dont trust me to drive yet. i have a 4.000 and got a A in drivers edd. they wont let me drive though. i think it is so unfair. my bus driver (i have video tapped this to prove it) only keeps her eyes on the road 2/3 of the time. i feel so unsafe. the older bus drive got us into an accident and the new one got us into a dich and side swipped another car. i hate it sooooooo much.

ps i am on my dads account sry for the spelling and grammer.

  1. Alec:  Have you asked them in an adult manner precisely why they oppose this?

I know nothing about your situation beyond what you have told me.  What I would be curious about is what would be the cost of putting you on the family insurance policy?

I have raised four children and two are still on my policy, it is d**n expensive and although both are adults my wife insists on carrying them.  If it were up to me I would drop them in a New York minute.

So, is it possible that your parents simply can't afford it?  Please be realistic, if it costs $1000 to add you then prorate it over how many times will you drive yourself.  Then add the fact that you will tie a vehicle up most of the day all week long.  Have a realistic look and try to see it from your parent's point of view.  Few parents will deny their children anything reasonable without a very good reason.

  2. Well, nobody is going to change your parent mind. Obviously there is a reason they don't trust you to drive.

Your 4.0 gpa doesn't mean anything when you drive.... they must think that you are either A) not expirienced enough to drive alone B) not responsible enough to drive.

It's thier decision, not yours, and it seems they've made it. So your gonna have to suck it up, keep practicing, and prove to them that your are capable of driving on your own.

Also.... My grandmother used to drive a school bus, Try keeping your eyes on the road and at the same the time watch the 50 kids in the back.

Not easy I would assume, I'm sure you are safe, and just trying to make excuses to drive on your own. Be happy, you can ride the bus and don't have to pay for gas.

  3. Your parents obviously know you better than anyone on here does. If they don't trust you to drive, they must have a reason, and probably a pretty good one.

You seem to like placing the blame on someone else all the time. Maybe that has something to do with their lack of trust in you.

Perhaps the bus driver spends part of her time checking mirrors, gauges, and passengers. Very safe and responsible things to do, I might add. And you didn't say what caused the other accidents. Maybe they weren't the bus driver's fault.

Lastly, you blame your dad's account for your poor spelling. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

Take a little responsibility for your own actions. Your parents just might notice. It will go a long way.

  4. I understand your feelings, but the fact that you are ranting on the internet about it suggests irresponsibillity and irrational thinking.

  5. I would, just give them some time and dont ask anymore.

  6. You have a 4.000 and you can't spell? I don't trust you to drive.

  7. based on your grade in driver's ed, i think you have proved yourself capable of handling a vehicle. you should express your concern for safety to your parents. that might persuade them to let you drive, especially if the bus driver's poor driving skills could potentially harm people. good luck!

  8. I would say your parents know you better then we do

  9. All I can say is prove that your own driving can bring you benefit and some success in yourself...
