Question:

Would you turn in a coworker for viewing p**n at work?

I have a co worker who constantly trolls for women on the net - all day - consequently, his work falls to the wayside and affects MY workload. It has gone from looking at chicks to now full-blown (no pun intended) p**n - nudity, sexual acts, etc. I'm no prude, but at work?! C'mon - I am incredibly frustrated and am considering going to management -

What would you do?

  1. I would turn him in.

  2. Think of it this way, if you know about it and don't say anything, you are just as liable as he is.  a couple of pics here and there is no big deal, but if his bad habits are interfering with his work performance, than something should be done.

I would approach him and be straightforward, tell him that his viewing habits are inappropriate and that is they do not cease that you will take further action.  And if he continues, he is not just breaking company policy, he is telling you that he really doesn't respect you or the rules.

  3. You should let a manager know it is going on. It potentially puts the whole business at risk.

  4. Yes, this can impact you in so many ways.  Not only the workload, but also you could be considered an enabler if you don't report it.

The company may be able to offer him counseling.

  5. Yes I would.  If you know about it, so do others, including probably some women.  The company is exposed to sexual harassment charges if employees know about something like this and don't report it or do something about it.  More directly important to you, if it is affecting your workload then it will impact your performance appraisal and raise, and NO ONE at your work will be impressed when you THEN tell them about the problem.  You ought to be able to report this to your HR dept confidentially.

  6. I probably would not since most companies monitor internet use and I figure he will be discovered soon enough.  However, there's always the anonymous letter.  ;-)

  7. Turn him in or tell mag. to look at history so they know u aint lien
