Question:

Would you use an alternative to Freecycle if it was available?

I have noticed over the last couple of Years that Groups are being re-named or completely dropped as more and more People become disenchanted with Freecycle, if alternative Groups were available for your area under a new Flag with no Politics or stupid Rules would you use them?

I run an alternative to Freecycle with Groups on Yahoo under the Recycle4free Flag.

Unlike other Recycling Groups we aim to have a Group for every Town, this way wasting resources to collect or deliver items will be cut down and it will hopefully bring local Communities just that little bit closer together.

If this alternative interests you then please let me now via my website.

  1. take it OUT of groups and just have a website. I hate having to 'join' stuff.

  2. Why are people becoming disenchanted with freecycle? Please provide more details.

(I can't understand why swopping stuff isn't allowed).

www.recycle4free.com = Great website. Can only help to reduce waste. Thanks for the link. Hope this expands. Yes, I'd definitely use but nowhere in my county is listed.

    Good luck with this venture.

  3. I would rather work for Schnitzer Steel.  It is much better than joining a strange group of people slinking about the town with shopping carts screaming "Tormillinos, tormillinos" and "Things were much better here during the Franco Years".

  4. nice idea, but its the people who use it that make it the way it is - the idea of freecycle is great too, its just you often get control freaks who become the moderators and its used as a way to justify peoples surplus!  They go under the illusion that if they give it away on freecycle its ok to carry on buying and living a consumerist lifestyle!!

  5. I'm pretty happy with my local Freecycle groups, why mess with what works? I don't find the rules onerous, it seems that things are run with a pretty light hand.

But to each their own, and if you also keep stuff recycled, that is good.
