  1. No... Never.  While the other answers agree with me, most of the answers here are incorrect.

It is not rude or offensive.  And nowadays 'ciao' isn't really too informal in most areas of Italy.  Further, it isn't like saying 'Hi or Bye Hottie'

It simply just doesn't make sense, and if you used it, people would be puzzled.  A female friend might say 'Bello' or 'Ah Bello' in a greeting to me, but would never say 'Ciao Bello'.  It is simply unused.

So where does it come from?  HOLLYWOOD.  It just sounds cool to us because they are two words most English speakers understand and seem to make sense when we put them together.

  2. If you are a female you would use the ciao bella there is no generic for both sexes except "ciao" You could  put   ciao, buona giornata!  it would mean either, hello/goodbye have a nice day! I have studied in "Bella Italia "and I believe it is the most beautiful language and country!

  3. A generic Italian good-bye:

    Ciao = Hello/Hi/Bye

Ciao, a presto = Bye, see you soon

Ciao a tutti = Hi everybody

Ciao bella is just for a girl

Ciao bello in just for a boy

but they are both very confidential

  4. mmmh.. no, i use a simple CIAO .. ciao bello/a it's not so much used here in italy

  5. Perhaps you can write Ciao a tutti - means goodbye everyone, as the others have explained above that bella is for females and bello is males, and they are singular, so would be a different word if you wanted plural.

  6. ciao i'm italian girl.

ciao bella and ciao bello is not good for express a generic good-bye.

is tru tell  "ARRIVEDERCI (is more good and elegant )" or CIAO ( for friend).

    ciao ciao from sicily(CATANIA)

ps: ciao bello in english is hi beautiful man

and ciao bella is hi beautiful girl. is not elegant in italy they are used for wooing a boy or girl

  7. not so much

  8. You could say Ciao Amici which translates to Hi/Goodbye Friends.  Nice and non offensive.

  9. No. You don't use ciao with anyone other than your friends or people you at least know, and bella or bello with close friends.

    Otherwise you are being rude.

  10. "Ciao bella", or "ciao bello"..is quite rude as googdbye coz it means "bye hottie". You should use it just with a person you know very well and wich you have confidence with.

Ciao is enough to say Good-bye..

  11. you say ciao bella or ciao bello when u see your friend... Like hi, hello

But if u want, it's better, u can also say CIAO RAGA .... like hi, hello

Good-bye is ciao, arrivederci, bella raga alla prossima, ci vediamo...

    Do u understand?
