  1. stereotyping has a large effect on minority people.

this is how you can use affect: monority people are affected by stereotyping. I get confused with the two words as well.

  2. This is a simple question to answer if you remember that effect is a noun and affect a verb. So in your application the correct version (Noun) is "effect".

If you wish to use affect as a verb, you would say "Stereotyping does affect the public viewpoint on minority peoples."

  3. I would use effect because you are effecting something.

  4. Effect

  5. effect.

you use "affect" when it's the cause. its a verb.

you use "effect" when it is the result because it's a noun.

  6. Affect and Effect are two of the most confusing words in the language, but if you remember that Effect is a noun and Affect is a verb, it becomes much easier.  Here are a couple of sentences to illustrate:

Staying up late has a bad effect on your school performance the next day.

If you stay up too late, it will affect your school performance.

I hope this helps you make the distinction between the two.

  7. effect would be proper in this case cuz its a noun

    verbs are affect

  8. EFFECT.

Affect is the verb (to affect). The effect is the result.

i.e. "Stereotyping" is the thing that's AFFECTING minority people.

    So, stereotyping has an EFFECT.

Hope this helps..sorry if it sounds confusing!

  9. Effect is the correct answer.  But it's not so simple as others suggest because "affect" is not always a verb and "effect" is not always a noun.

Effect is also a verb when it means "to bring about" or "to cause":  As in "to effect change."

And, although it's pronounced differently, "affect" is also a noun when used to mean feeling or emotion.  "She showed a blandness of affect."
