Would you volunteer to fight in Georgia or Russia's military?

Question

This was inspired by a question I asked earlier in which I drew parallels between the current conflict in South Ossetia and the Spanish Civil War. Then I remembered something very unique about the Spanish Civil War.

The Abraham Lincoln brigade was composed of Americans who volunteered to fight on behalf of Republican Spain during the 1930s.

I'm wondering if anyone today would be willing to do the same, or do modern warfare and modern ideas prevent such an undertaking?

This is more of a hypothetical/philosophical question.

It's not that serious of a cause...the Spanish Civil War was a whole different ball game...and Russia isn't a communist government fighting a democracy or part of NATO (otherwise we would be at war with them already).

I wouldn't join either side. Not for because of the 'underdog'

scenario you throw out. You don't leave an argument for joining the Russian Army either.

People are really fired up about this cause....join our Army then, we kinda do have a war or two for you to fight.

I am not to far from either but that sure as h**l dont mean i want to join either, i have enough on my plate at the moment to deal with let alone more.

TO ADD TO YOUR COMMENT ABOUT THE SPANISH CIVIL WAR. IT IS ALSO WHERE THE GERMAN LUFTWAFFE TRAINED THEIR PILOTS FOR THE ENSUING WORLD WAR. ARE YOU SUGGESTING THAT THIS PATH BE FOLLOWED AGAIN. WE AGAIN DECRY THE INCIDENT IN WHITE EUROPE BUT LEAVE THE POOR BLACKS IN AFRICA TO CONTINUE GETTING SLAUGHTERED.

I WOULD JOIN SUCH A UNIT ONLY IF IT WERE TO DESTROY ANY REMNANTS OF THE OLD COLONIALISM IDEAS AND WRONG ALL RIGHTS IN THIS WORLD. OF COURSE, THE U.S. AND ALL OTHER COLONIALISTIC THINKING POWERS WOULD HAVE TO BE SUBJECT TO THIS ARMY'S MANDATE. THEY WOULD BE UNDER U.N. MANDATE AND COULD BE SENT INTO ANY AREA WITH JUST A SIMPLE MAJORITY VOTE IN THAT ASSEMBLY.
