At the end of the CNBC video, the interviewer confirms that Sarah Palin doesn't know what a VP does. Watch the 3 minute mark to the end: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pak-rH0dCeA

If the link doesn't work, search: "youtube sarah wooten and VP". This video may have been taken off the internet.

If the video is no longer, here is the transcript of the most incredible part:

Larry Kudlow of CNBC’s “Kudlow & Co.” asked her about the possibility of becoming McCain’s ticket mate.

Palin replied: “As for that VP talk all the time, I’ll tell you, I still can’t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day? I’m used to being very productive and working real hard in an administration. We want to make sure that that VP slot would be a fruitful type of position, especially for Alaskans and for the things that we’re trying to accomplish up here for the rest of the U.S., before I can even start addressing that question.”

  1. Lemme see ... She's a governor; that means that she has the equivalent of a VP, known as the Lieutenant Governor, who would have  similar/parallel responsibilities, including interacting with other parts of the Administrative parts of the government, as well interfacing with the legislative and judicial branches, as well ...unless, of course, she is so anal-retentive that she doesn't SHARE power with her L-.G.

    Hasn't kept up with Iraq.

Didn't have a passport (has she ever used it?) until just last year.

    Is an anti-feminist fundamentalist

Her hubby woorks for a foreign oil company

She was FOR Senator Stevens' 'Bridge To Nowhere' before she somehow changed her mind (good that she changed her mind, bad that she HAD to change her mind).

    Got her brother-in-law fired.

Gee. Golly. Wow. Sounds like a beyotch to me. No wonder McSame liked her: she reminds him of his wife.

I thought 'conservatives' were for small government and minimal government interference ... then WHY is she sticking her snout into peoples' bedrooms and doctor's offices? She's imposing her twisted, anti-science primitive, outmoded, anachronistic religious views onto people's lives ...gee, sounds like Dubya

No Thanks ...8 years were ENOUGH!!!!

  2. No I'm not voting for McCain- and his choice of VP reinforced that. He is like 72 now!! If he is elected, and DIES IN OFFICE, we will have HER as the president. I am not so sure that its such a great idea..

  3. you have accurately quoted sarah--she no doubt by now has been briefed--as vp, her job is to allow the big oil companies to write energy legislation--and then refuse to allow press access to the minutes of all energy meetings. Additionally, her job would be to construct fake documents as evidence of going to war, give no-bid contracts to her cronies in alaska and finally--and this the vp's most important job--take all political opponents hunting for clipped winged quail.

  4. Are you aware of the VP's job description?

Can you enlighten us. Please give us an idea exactly what a vice president does.

The lime light is not, and never has been on the vice president.

You wouldn't know any more than Ms. Palin about the job, until you were told just what it entailed.

So give the woman a break.   A Democrat

  5. Well at least now I am not the only one that is not all that sure

    .

Really I am not all that much of a VP follower until he takes the White House bed room

    .

  6. Obama has proven to me time and again that he has no idea what the President does.

At least Palin admits her ignorance.

The vice president has two responsibilities: president of the senate, and to replace the President if need be.  Since the senate only works 120 days out of the year, no one really knows what the vice president does from day to day, except the current vice president.

  7. Yep, I will be voting for her.

  8. OF COURSE I WOULD

John McCain loves her " wink wink"

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1RN5xbWtNS...

im a young political junkie and i had to explain what the VP does to my family... so the fact that she doesnt know is baffling... so yea Phoebe she doesnt deserve a break...

  9. Can't really say I blame her.  What does the VP do day to day, for that matter what do the congressmen/women the government do day to day?

  10. NO, and I also wouldn't vote for someone who is anti-choice, anti-science, anti-g*y rights, supports banning even the birth control pill and believes creationism should be taught in schools.

As a woman, I like my rights, thanks.

  11. Yeah, McCain / Palin 2008.

Nice taking it out of context in your question there.  Great form.

  12. Sophie said it best

    No, I wouldn't!

  13. Yes, wasn't that a fantastic response?  Obviously for someone who has been as 'busy' as Palin (5 kids, running a business, running a town, governing a state, fighting corruption in your own party...) sitting in on briefings without a say, going to statesmen dinners and such would not be a position someone like her would be interested in.  Apparently McCain convinced her she would be fruitful as a Veep or she wouldn't have taken the nomination.

  14. Then what the heck does she have?

Oh yeah! --> XX instead of XY

  15. Palin is the one who remarked she didnt know what the VP did.  The fact that she doesnt know makes her unqualified for the job.  However, the REAL problem is that she didn't think ahead...to the true job of the vice president; to become president if there is any reason the president cannot serve.  Because she did not think ahead to such contingency, she is not qualified to be vice president.  If you are not qualified to be be vice-president, can you be qualified to be president?

    Are you nuts?

  16. It depends on what your definition of the word 'is' is.

  17. You're taking it out of context.

  18. No I would not

  19. Obama doesn't know what a PRESIDENT is supposed to do!

Commander and Chief of the military... he doesn't get it.

    McCain/Palin '08

  20. Heavens, no.

    No.

    Oh my, no.

Sorry. So completely overwhelmed by this ridiculous choice for a running mate. Still trying to comprehend what McCain's advisors were thinking.

  21. Asker; what does the VP do? (in your own words)

  22. No, I wouldn't. But, as time passes by, we'll find a whole lot more that she doesn't know.
