  1. Absolutely not.  Soap contains alot of harmful agents and can be damaging to the childs respiratory system.  Same goes for pepper, hot sauce, etc.

I seen this done once to a child, and the child ended up in ICU and nearly died.  They were told that if the child died they would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  Children's Services were notified and though the parents meant no harm-that trip to the hospital-changed all their lives forever.

They are better means of correcting a child-I would find better ways to deal with the child.  Something to think about, hope it helps.

  2. No, I wouldn't, it's inhumane and as a species, we should've already evolved past such ideas.

There are better and more effective ways to punish someone for using "bad words". Use a swear jar and anyone who swears in the house has to put a quarter(or more) in the jar. That rule should apply to everyone, not just the kid.

  3. As a kid I was threatened with it so many times but kept acting up. Until one day, my mum actually did it! I cant remember what it was I did, but it sure worked! I still remember it clearly to this day. My son is only 6 months so not sure if I would do it.

  4. i think that is cruel and just brutal. You really want to kill your kid.

why not just spank them?  or give them time out?

  5. No, my husband and I don't cruelly punish our children. Never had a need to stoop that low.  I don't consider that to be parenting. My parents never did anything that cruel to me nor my siblings, either.

  6. None and no.

  7. no it is  actually dangerous to do this in case the child ingests some of the soap.

taking away priveleges is much better

  8. From Canada, washing a child's mouth out with soap is NOT illegal in Canada. I have not had to do it, but I tell you it is there as an option.

Ivory - 99.94% pure. A rub on the tongue will not hurt any one. No smacking, yelling or grounding to police. Just a few minutes with a horrible taste.

PS. I have tasted soap before and guess what? It stopped me from swearing at 13.

  9. Yes they did and no I wouldn't.  Hopefully I respect my kids enough that they will respect me.  I'd find an easier and more maintainable method.  That's abuse.  You have no idea what those chemicals in the soap could do to a kid!

  10. my parents did it until my sister puked.  later on i did some research on it and found out that the stuff is poisonous!  Shame on all the parents out there who do that!!  There are other, better, safer ways of disciplining!

  11. My parents did not do it and I wouldn't do it either. Putting a chemical agent like soap in a child's mouth is not right. There are appropriate ways to discipline.

  12. of course not, that's child abuse!  There are other ways to discipline a child if they talk out of line...such as, sending them to their room w/o TV, DVD, and computer, in short, take out some priviliges they (think) they can't live without...and if anyone said, they would, shame on YOU!

  13. Yes I would. My mom only did it to us if we would say curse words, when we were younger.

  14. My daughter is only 10 months, so I'm not sure for which offenses yet, but yes i'll probably do it at some point. i think my parents usually did it to me when I backtalked or said a swear word.

  15. No and yes

  16. Yes I would and yes they did.

  17. no, I would never do that.  There are many other way to discipline a child without resorting to torture.

  18. HAHA one time my 7 year old cousin said a bad word and my aunt told him she was gonna wash his mouth out with soap! and then if got all mad and ran into the back and  when he came out he was all wet and soapy! he really did it himself and my aunt really wasnt going to do it so when i asked him why he did it he said she thaught she was gonna do it so he was gonna beat her to it! what a dork but now i have a good story to tell!

ok so for your question i wouldn't because they could get sick (even though my cuz didnt they still can)

  19. Yes, whenever a child cursed or used their  mouth in a wrong way. Even Dr. Phil and his wife put soap on a toothbrush and made their boys brush their tongue with soap.

  20. Yes I would. And to all that say that soap is poisonous: it is not. It is appropriate punishment for backtalk, cursing and for a lie. It is absolutely acceptable. Parents step up and be parents!

  21. No I wouldn't and no they didn't.  although my stepmom put tabsco sauce on my thumb to stop me from sucking it (didn't work)

  22. No I wouldn't...I think it's abusive.

My parents never did it to me....but my Dad

used the belt on my behind many times!

(Which I also feel is abusive)
