Question:

Wouldn't be fair for "fat people" if amusement parks company announced weight limits on their web site?

I went to Busch Garden in Florida and I didn't fit in the "regular sit" but they didn't have a "modified sit" @ the entrance of the rides...so after being bummed out for like 20 minutes in front of Sheikra for not being able to get in it. I saw a girl way bigger than me get on the line, so when I ask an attendant (who saw me trying to fit in the model sit like 3 times) if they had some kind of modified sitting on the ride itself, she said yes but that she hadn't told me because I didn't ask....I think amusement parks should save us "fat people" the embarrasment by placing freaking weight limits on their websites...!

  1. I can completely see your point as I was just at an amusement park recently and witnessed a poor dad with his son attempt to get on a roller coaster (after about an hour wait in line) only to discover we was not able to fit into the seat.  Unfortunately, they did not have "test" seats before getting on the ride, but I know that I would have been angry at wasting my time waiting through the line only to find out that I was not able to go on the ride.  I am not sure if a weight limit would fix the problem though as different people carry their weight in different ways/places, but I think a test seat at the entrance to EVERY roller coaster would be a great thing!  I also think that the entrance sign should state whether or not the ride has modified seats.

  2. Putting up a weight limit would cause a load of legal problems that the park would rather not deal with.

Most parks, however, do have signs saying people with "exceptional body sizes" may not fit on all rides.  By saying that, parks aren't saying tall or fat.

  3. I'd write a letter to the manager or customer service folks at Busch Gardens. If they don't hear these things from people like you, nothing will change.

That and maybe they'll feel some remorse and send you some free stuff :)

  4. That's horrible that you had to go through that, but you shouldn't have had to ask in the first place. If they saw you weren't fitting in the normal seats they should have offered you the modified seating.

Weight doesn't necessarily mean how big you are, some people weigh a lot more than what they look.

  5. Maybe instead of trying to change the operation of a theme park with a few thousand employees, you should change your lifestyle and become fit, that way this does not happen again!

It is amazing how easy your problem can be solved if you just accept some personal responsibility and decide to act on your own behalf.

  6. I think they should put you in modified sitting after you won't fit into the regular seats, that way there's none of this "you need to ask" junk

  7. i think u r right. i am not overweight but my sister is and she was so humiliated last year when she could not fit in the ride. i think they should offer the modified seat if u don't fit in the regular seat. i'm sorry that happened to you. i hope u still went on the ride though.

  8. or perhaps here's an idea. save yourself all the embarrassment by losing some weight.  its not the parks fault that ur  overweight, its yours. So YOU do something about it.

  9. Hey, there,i feel your pain. I too was too large for regular seating on some rides her at BG williamsburg. The problem is that its not about weight was much as it is about size. Theres too many body shapes to set a weight to it. I am bigger then my husband in inches but he weighs more because hes tight muscles. It also depends where you carry your weight. Us ladies tend to carry it in hips and butt whereas men are " buttless" but have big bellies.

Im sorry you had to go that, it sux.

What would be most helpful to us is a pictureof the restraint systym for each ride on the website.

The kind that are just a bar over your head work well for most people. But the ones that have a seatbelt that comes up between your legs and clips to the bar are an issue for us because we cant get the bar down far enough cause of our heinie and hips.

Dont let it ruin your fun. Console yurself that most people are too preoccupied with themselves to notice us anyway-lol
