I have this friend, and he insists on wanting to "work on solar power," and this seems to me to be something that someone in engineering would do. But he's in environmental studies and philosophy major. Am I wrong, or...what?

  1. Anyone could learn the basics...maybe he'd be a good sales person.  Depends on what "works on solar power" means...could mean he wants to play golf on sunny days :) !!!

  2. He does not have to be an engineer, but it would help if he intends to design solar panels etc... With environmental studies he could probably get a job at a firm that hires engineers as well as non engineers to to work on these types of projects. Either way he will need to be good at math and science.

  3. No, he would not have to be an engineer.
