  1. Wow, that's about all I can say to that. How sad her daughter will most likely repeat her mistakes and behaviour also, unless there is a good family support system to help raise her.

  2. Yeah, I know what you mean, it's like we're all goin' to h**l in a hand basket.  I don't even know what's goin' on in the heads of young people today.

  3. 50 years ago they didn't have the answers either - females would disappear from school and never be seen again cause they were shipped off to some home for unwed mothers then have to give the baby up for adoption and I don't believe were allowed to return to school to get their diplomas.  They returned labeled tramps and considered outcasts.  The guys?  Out doing whatever, most likely bragging.  yeah, it was all good 'back in the day...'

personally i'd like to see more hands-on education behind parenting in the schools.  cleaning up puke, wiping filthy behinds or snotty noses, and learning that you're not number one anymore - that the baby is, kinda takes the romance out of it - jolts one into a more realistic perspective.

  4. Well, 50 years ago, those girls would have either had the choices of being sent away to a home for unwed mothers, getting an illegal abortion, or having to marry someone they barely know. A lot of girls had to drop out of high school to get married and those marriages were often not happy ones.

  5. I cases like this, yes.  Why do these little girls insist on breeding at such an early age?  And this one is beyond immature!!    It's really sad.

  6. No, it would not be nice to fall back in time 50 years.

Do you think teenagers weren't getting pregnant 50 years ago??  The difference is that 50 years ago their babies were given up for adoption and raised by parents who knew how to care for a child.

From time to time questions are posted within this forum regarding the suitability of teens for parenthood, and the popular idea is that they are.  Well, they aren't, not while they're in school and growing up.  Where were this girl's parents, that they failed her so completely?  Why aren't they communicating to her the sheer stupidity of fighting?  And why is the baby's father apparently out of the picture?

Yes, it is incredible, and no, going back in time (as if that were possible!) won't solve anything.  Parents should stop indulging their children, teach them right from wrong, and give them a sense that values don't come from their peer group.  It would be nice if babies born to mothers this young were given to the adoptive parents who want them so much.

Life was no picnic in 1958.  Trust me.

  7. The excess of s*x and violence among teenagers today would be my only motivation for falling back 50 years.

  8. Never think that girls were not fighting and getting pregnant in those times; they were.  My mom knew of a woman who got into fights back in the 50s.  I knew of a mother who didn't know the first thing about fighting and her youngest daughter constantly got into fights.  The moms always can't be blamed.  Those girls are going to be obstinate enough to follow their own path; all we can do is hope they come to their senses as they mature.

  9. Shaking head I see welfare queen in her future.
