second vehicle that runs on electricity... In that way you can fight high prices of gas, help the enviroment and still be able to travel long distances and have speed when it is needed? This is for those whom are unable to bike it or car pool or do not have access to public transportation...

  1. Absolutely -- it's a great idea to have one of your family's cars be electric just for use around town.

What to do about that long-haul vehicle?  Some people don't like ethanol, for good reason.  It's not even done to be eco, it's to avoid foreign oil.  So what other choices are there?

The amazingly simplest and most eco-friendly: Hertz rent-a-car.  That's right - when you need a long-haul vehicle, go rent one :)

Another option is a plug-in hybrid like the Chevy Volt, the best of both worlds -- a plug-in electric for most normal driving, with an onboard engine for unlimited long hauls.

Another option: Half the cars in Europe are diesel, and America is starting to get wise to diesels - you'll see lots more high performance diesel cars coming on the market, and they can run biodiesel which is a MUCH better biofuel than ethanol, especially if they figure out the algae thing.

And a plug-in hybrid diesel makes a lot of sense, and you can expect to see those within 5-10 years.

  2. Sadly, ethanol is destroying the environment and causing a decrease in the food supply. I am hoping the car that runs on water will be available in the future!

  3. The only issue I have with your idea is the ethanol. Try and rethink that venue as it will soon become as the 8 track player... a fleeting memory.
