For example, if there were monthly big-name fights on ABC, like the olden days.

  1. I am 50 and saw it in the hey day.

Would loive it if came true but MMA is more popular with the sports people.

  2. yes it would be awsome

  3. It would be cool if boxing were a mainstream sport again. Even if we see boxing surpass MMA in popularity we wont see that happen because nowadays, fighters want so much money to fight. Ali wouldve asked for about 4mill to fight Norton on TV if that fight was scheduled today. Greed killed the sport of boxing as it is killing every sport. Just chekk the NFL and the NBA. And there is already reports that fighters are complaining about money issues around the UFC.

  4. That would be great. I remember when fights like Ali - Norton and Ali - Shavers were just on ordinary TV (not cable) free.

  5. That would be good on the weekends, like the good old days, they would have to do it from Feb-Aug because of College Football, but that sounds sweet.

  6. In a way I like it how it is as many of the rising stars get a lot of air time on ESPN because the BIG names are all on HBO and Showtime. If the networks had the elite fighters we would rarely get to see the up and coming prospects and the exciting midcard fighters.

The UFC, IFL, WEC and all the other Mixed Martial Arts organizations are really suffering from an overkill in my opinion. I was a big fan back in the days of the original UFC tournaments with Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Don Frye and Kimo ect... But now it is on every channel 3-4 times a day.

I'd like boxing to have occasional big fights on the networks like you said maybe once a month but I think too much would sort of defeat itself. Just my thought thanks for the question.
