About a quarter of the way down the description it says: "1970 454 Ci/Hi Performance 4 Bolt Passenger Bored And Stroked To 496ci". Wouldn't this weaken the engine alot? and plus all the nos, isn't this engine in danger of blowing?

  1. Cars with this sort of performance are in danger of blowing an engine at any given moment.  That is what pro street drag racing is all about though, an a$$pile of power, if you blow the engine you rebuild it, part of racing.   Look at cars in Nascar, they are built by the best of the best and blown engines still do occur once in a while.

I can tell you that you would not be able to build that car for 35,000, seller claims to have 90k invested and that is probably the truth.

  2. The engine wouldn't blow, your wallet and mind will at that price!

  3. Stroking and engine has nothing to do with strength,  and over boring doesn't weaken the cylinder walls enough to worry about unless the engine will be run at max RPM's all day long.

Even a stock engine can blow if run at max RPM's all day long.

  4. Well no, if it is built right and the proper head bolts, rod bolts, and main bolts are used. And yes, anytime you modify an engine above the original design you run the risk to exceed the design limits and the engine may be damaged. It is all a calculated risk, that is the nature of racing. Add NOS is another story that pushes the engine to the edge of the envelope and beyond. So what is your point, hotrodders have been doing this since the 30's.
