Wouldn't you think earth and fire signs would get along famously?

I mean think about it, you need wood (an earth element right?) to fuel fire.

Between air and earth signs, which ones would get along with an Aries (or leo or sagittarius) better?

Air: Libra, Gemini, Aquarius

Earth: Taurus, Capricorn, Virgo

Fire destroys the earth. Earth fears fire and sees it as a threat to its structure.  Period.

I'm a fire sign (Sagittarius) and for some reason I don't get along best with earth signs. I can be around them and I don't act mean to them or whatever, but as far as being with them everyday or all the time, I don't think so. I've tried that. There is only one earth sign that I get along with famously but she has other planets in her chart that overpower and she acts nothing like an earth sign. Anyway, the Taurus I know think their always right and don't budge. They can be so stubborn and bullheaded and always want to debate! The Capricorns I know are very controlling and expect you to jump to their whistle. The Virgo's I know are so moody.

Now let me get one thing straight before I go on. This is only said about the people I know personally with these sun signs. This does not apply to every other Taurus, Capricorn, and Virgo out there. This is just my experience. We all have different signs in our planets and are more than our sun sign so I do know that people can act totally different from their sun sign. What's weird is that my moon is in Taurus, and my Rising is in Capricorn. But Libra and Sagittarius dominate my chart,

On the contrary, Fire and Earth is a tough combination to blend. Imagine the Earth sign traits of conservatism, pragmatism, conventionality and the Fire sign traits of innovation, assertiveness, impulsiveness...these two clash more than you can ever imagine. (I would know from first-hand account as I am a fiery/Earthy temperament mix)

However, when both are able to compromise, give and take, then this combo can literally move mountains. Earth would be there to sustain and manifest Fire's passions, while Fire would be there to give encouragement and fuel's Earth inspiration to get things going.

Air has traditionally been thought to go along better with Fire because AIr is needed for combustion to take place. However, this is only a gross generalization and the entire chart has to be taken into consideration instead.
