  1. s***w alexander hes a waste of money

  2. One analyst tackled this subject awhile ago... I think it was Peter King with SI.  Anyway what he said rang true to me... and I'm a homer, I love SA, but it was time for him to go.

Yes he's older.  Yes he's slower, but then he wasn't ever really a speed back anyway.  He's not a great pass catcher and his blocking is OK.

So what could he do for a team?  He would have to be a starter or backup to a primary starter as has been pointed out.  SA just isn't a guy who can sign with a team, take a roster spot and sit... teams would want him to contribute on special teams or as a 3rd down or goal line specialist.

But it's not SA's bag to field kicks.  That's disaster waiting to happen.  With granite paws he won't be catching passes out of the backfield and he's never been particularly strong or reliable (lately) at the goal line.

So that leaves feature back role... which 32 teams including Cincinnati have already filled.

I think SA should have made the switch to FB when Mack Strong retired and resurrected his career... but once "the man" always the man.  It would be an incredible story and testament to SA's faith if he were able to come back in a prominent role.

  3. CIN should get him in case perry gets hurt. Or tampa realese williams and have alexander and grahmn.

  4. You got me man. Rudi Johnson was outta work for a day or two and Alexander is twice the player he is.

  5. Well there are several reasons:

1- His salary is too high for a small market team to sign him to a contract.

2- At his age it takes at least 3 years to get back to  normal when you have a knee injury such as his (post surgery).

3- What good is he to a team if he's not in top shape.

Better for him to wait to sign with a team near playoff time or wait for a team with a major injury to there starting Running Back.

  6. He isn't any good anymore thats why nobody signed him.  Too old.  Too slow.  Too many injuries.

  7. i believe a team like houston or buffalo might be beneficial in signing a back like shaun alexander, maybe even san diego could use a shaun alexander to backup L.T....houston is juggling upproven backs in its backfield, buffalo could use some kinda of compliment for marshawn lynch and L.T. definitely could use rest at times without turner to take off the load alexander would be a good fit.. shaun has proven himself over the years, but when a back reachs a certain age they are deemed too old...age may wear you down, but the God given talent is never taken away...i believe its not his age, but its money and terms of a contract..it may be his agent telling him this or that or simply he may be greedy..but i dont think that...its probably his agent and the market value that teams preceive him at..
