In spite of suffering a 2-1 defeat against PSV Eindhoven on Eredivisie matchday 23, the Utreg boss was satisfied with his troops’ showings on the pitch, though, he admitted that his side could have had a better result.
FC Utrecht head coach, Jan Wouters, was satisfied with his side’s performance against PSV Eindhoven at Philips Stadion, despite suffering a 2-1 defeat at the end on Saturday, February 16.
The 52-year-old tactician revealed that his side commenced proceedings in Eindhoven with an aggressive intent. However, PSV managed to control proceedings on the pitch as the game progressed.
“We aimed to put in a fine performance and I think we have succeeded in doing so. We played well and scored an early goal. Mertens in the 29th minute.

Wijnaldum.
The Utreg failed to assert their authority after conceding the second goal, and went on to lose the game 2-1 at the end of 90 minutes.
Nonetheless, the former Bayern Munich midfielder heaped praise on his troops’ courageous display at Philips Stadion even though they failed to grab even a single point at the end.
“We fought ourselves back into the game but made a few bad choices against a ten-man PSV side. It was a very attractive game and I have to pay my players a compliment for putting in a fine display”, Wouters concluded.
