And wow i must actually say, that even though I am supporting obama, McCain's strategy is actually pretty good let me explain:

McCain claims to be a "maverick" which means he is willing to betray his party just to make people happy( This works to make those voters who are moderate and don't really have a party preference, but slightly angers the republican party). He choose Sarah Palin as her VP, because she is really Pro-life which will grab those voters attention who are from the Republican side. By doing this, on the political spectrum he has more than 1/2 of it supporting him.

Now Obama's strategy really seems not as great. Obama falls weak when it comes to Foreign Policy, so he choose Biden as his VP, because he has experience in Foreign Policy.

what makes McCain less popular is his affiliation with George W. Bush, which currently is at an all time low.

If McCain didn't have an affiliation with George Bush he would be winning.

  1. Bidens experience is being wrong on almost every vote on foreign policy. if thats why Obamas got him on the ticket that would not be a good choice unless you ask for his advice and do the opposite

  2. KID WE HEAR THIS IN THE NEWS EVERY DAY

    OBAMA/BIDEN 2008

  3. You also failed to mention how Obama proposed that he was the agent of change and new to Washington politics and then chose a long time Beltway player.  What change does he suppose he is bringing with a guy who occupied a seat in the Senate when John McCain was in a P.O.W. camp.  Yes Biden has been in Washington for that long.  Biden strengthens the Dem ticket with his experience in every aspect because he has been sitting in D.C. for more than 30 years.  This really cancels out the change Barrack was supposedly going to bring.

  4. That is a very simplistic view. Both nominees have very complex and diverse strategies encompassing Energy, Economic, and Social policy. Please educate yourself on these matters.

  5. I heard that on CNN 30 minutes ago.

  6. This would work if anyone was still falling for his claims of being a maverick. It still energizes the conservatives for some reason (Maybe they just like the idea of someone being energetic, which they've been lacking for a while), but the rest of the voters are actually aware that he toes the party line nine times out of ten.

  7. Your professor does not know what he is talking about.

John McCain's opposition to parts of Republican Orthodoxy is not merely a tactic to get moderate voters. This is John McCain's true political position.

In fact John McCain and George Bush had been bitter rivals for many years. It is true however that the bad job that George Bush did reflects badly on John McCain because bothe John McCain and George Bush are members of the Republican Party.

However saying that John McCain is like George Bush is like saying that Barack Obama is the same as William Jefferson (the guy with the cash from the bribes in his freezer) merely because both Barack Obama and Willima Jefferson are both members of the Democratic Party.

  8. There is a certain logic to that line of thought for sure.

  9. Palin also managed to keep Alaska on a budget w/ a surplus. We are currently umm..negative eleventybillion dollars. Im independent, but im really liking McCain. I dont like his close affiliation w/ Dubya, but i think hes a leader.

  10. McCain's strategy of holding himself out to be a maverick is good, but I don't think it's accurate.  I think Obama has to continue to point out that McCain has voted with Bush over 90% of the time.  In other words, McCain's not a maverick, but he plays one on TV.

  11.   So what the question? Are you asking ,do we think his strategy,McCain,or Obama will work?h**l,who knows. It all politics.

  12. soo um i don't mean to be rude but whats your question????

o yea and i hope McCain wins i means just cause he likes bush (and so do i) y should that effect who likes him ya know plus it doesn't rele matter who wins its not like they have alot of president's have alot of power i mean they do but the gov. is set up with checks and balances so no one gets to strong so president's only have a little limited power ya know! lol.

    :)

  13. What country are you getting this from? Mexico?

  14. X,

McCain's pick of Palin was born out of desperation. If he were a true Maverick, he would have chosen Lieberman, which was his first choice. Instead, he buckled to the will of his party. Also, 'mavericks' do not pander, which is exactly what he did in order get the conservative bloc and the female vote behind him. It is a good strategy, but it only works on those of us who do not take the time to truly understand what is at stake in this election, and are willing to accept the Karl Rove politics we have had to endure over the last eight years.
