does Rick have his driver lined up for the 5 car in 2010? It has been rumored, and it sounds plausible, that Mark Martin will be driving his last season at HMS, hoping for one last chance to win races and have a shot at the championship. Do you think Rick already has somebody lined up to take that ride in 2010? Would Tony honor the last year of his contract at JGR, knowing he would have a great Chevy seat, in the 5 car, when he is done? Things that make you go hmmmmmm! Thank you for your input.

  1. I was in Sonoma this weekend the rumor tree was on overload. I heard exactly what you were talking about..We all thought it would be Brad K taking over the ride in 2010, and Mark and Brad would split 2009. But then theres Landon Casill as well who has been driving the 5 in some of the Nationwide races. The rumors on Smoke were unreal and he wasn't talking, yep there was a lot of stuff would make you go nuts as well as go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. and is Jeff Gordon gonna retire in 2010..it was nuts, it was like everyone is more interested in next year and beyond, and everyone forgot 2008..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

  2. Here's my take on it Trego...

Martin shares the seat in the #5 car in ''09'' and compares how different they do things, then they do at DEI.

In 2010??? Dale and Tony Jr return to DEI... to make a last minute rescue, of ''The Sinking Ship''

  3. With Logano coming up, HMS can have Stewart.  JGR will have a team packed with young talent.

  4. I like your theory. But, I wonder if instead of Tony ready for the hot seat in 2010, it won't be Keselowski. I can see Tony honoring is contract, and possibly wanting to get back in a Chevy, or I can see Rick with his eye on Brad all of next year waiting to see if he will be ready to move up. With Jr. already there, it kind of makes me think the latter.

I guess we will all have to die of curiosity in the meantime.

  5. Yes, I'm sure he does for 2009 and maybe even 2010! He's a good businessman. I'll just tell you what I can't figure out about 2009! How are both of his young drivers Brad Keselowski and Landon Casill going to drive cup next year? I don't believe they are going to let any of this young talent stay down in the NWS for long! I know Brad drives for Jr., but technically he is a HMS driver. Dale Jr. has no cup team as of yet! I don't see Mark Martin or Tony Stewart going to HMS because neither will want to play second or third fiddle to who is there now! It does make you wonder! But we will know two things before the end of this season that we don't know now! 1) If Tony will stay with JGR for the last year of his contract. 2) Who will be in the seat of the 5 car next season.

Good Luck trying to figure out 2010! I got to go lay down, I've got a headache!

  6. and then Kyle will be the top Toyota driver.

that would be cool if he had M&Ms painted on his car that looked like little Japanese dudes

  7. I could see Mark Martin going to HMS, though I'd be kidna bummed for Mears.

Here's a really weird idea.....what if Smoke really isn;t going anywhere????? Truthfully, I think he's srewing big time with the media.

I'll be honest with ya, I think the CNC/Haas thing would be a huge mistake. JMO.

  8. I think that Martin Truex Jr is going to get the seat in the 5 car in 2009 and 2010. I really think that Dale Jr wants Truex over there to have his Protege just like Jeff Gordon has Jimmie Johnson. Don't Be Surprised that Truex Jumps Ship and Goes To Hendrick.

    Go Dale Jr #88

  9. I'm with you, I would say anything is possible in this day of "Free Agency" as they call it. Sit back and wait, we might all just get blown away on this one. I'm curious to see how many predictions come out of this.

My question is 2010 going to end one of the greatest careers of all time, with my Boy Gordon?

  10. I was wondering about this reading everything last night this morning.

And I was wondering FURTHER if Tony was possibly not driving to the best of his ability as some sort of "boycott" since he isn't happy to be in a Chevy?  Therefore JGR will let him go early or maybe he has one of those contracts like Truex - where they can exercise an option to keep him when it 's over, no matter what? - and he wants to make sure that doesn't happen?

Or am I really reaching now?  HA!

Can I driver of Tony's caliber really do something like that?  Does he get paid no matter what?

I have no idea about this, just something that was going through my mind...and no, I don't think I should ask this as a question and I don't really expect any answers.  Just a bit of curiosity not a conspiracy theory or "excuse" for Tony or anything else!

  11. thats what i been saying
