  1. Yes you can Google it or Yahoo search it. or you can go to wiki answers and ask the question there are someanswers for it.

  2. I don't think it is true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I seriously doubt that. I don't think anythings strong enough to interupt the Sun. The only way that could happen is if there was an eclipse or the Earth stopped turning, or the Sun burned out - but that would freeze earth over so it would be dark for a lot longer than 1.5 days. Just think about it logically. If it was really going to be dark for 1.5 days, there'd be major preporations in place...

  4. this is nonsense.

where is this coming from? several ppl have asked variations on this nonsense the last couple of days. do *you* have a reference?

  5. Not at all possible

Only in polar areas, day time will be lasting more than 12 hours.

  6. Don't listen to these people!  God has gotten tired of the atheists bellyachin' about not having any verifiable miracles, so He decided to slam dunk 'em!  Take THAT you heathen godless scientist!  I smite thee!

    --signed, God

p.s. All the good people will be ok, but you non believers won't live to see the light of day.  No wait, then you'd miss the miracle.  c**p.

  7. ya its possibe

  8. Right.

No, honey, this is false.  Time to learn some physics.  Go do a google search on newton's laws.  They're simple, and should immunize you from foolishness like this.

  9. It sounds like the Hoaxers have found a new game to play.

  10. The further north you go, the longer the days. This may be true near the arctic circle, but not for the US, other than Alaska.  And it certainly does not happen just over two to three days. Arctic days and nights are gradual things, lengthening and shortening over the course of a year. For it to happen just for the day, the Earth would need to slow down its rate of spin. Not possible for a body as massive as the Earth, without destroying itself as the energy from angular momentum changes so abruptly.

    Clearly a ridiculous notion.

    .

  11. That is just a stupid myth.  The only place were you can get a 36 hour day is when you are at least on the Arctic Circle on June 21st.  The day length increases as you go near the poles.  On December 21, just inside the Arctic Circle, you can get a night lasting for at least 36 hours (and the night last longer as you go north towards the pole).  That's on December 21st, not October 17.  Antarctica also experiences this extreme daylight and darkness, but no one lives down there.

  12. No no it is not false. Bumble bee and pippi monster came to my dream ystrday n told me that *will* happen. begone all you atheists!

  13. In October, the declination of the Sun is south of the celestial equator.  It is therefore impossible for any spot in the US to have sunlight continuously for more than 12 hours (never mind 36).

There is no such thing as a "big day" on this planet, unless:

    1. You are in the polar region(north of Arctic circle or south of Antarctic circle) and

    2. The declination of the Sun is the same name (North or South) as you latitude.

In the period May to July, there are places in the US (northern Alaska) where this can happen (but it has nothing to do with what you are thinking about: on those days, the Sun does not "continuously rise").

  14. No. It is rubbish.

  15. wow, can't wait. *rolls eyes*

  16. Utter poppycock.

And other words to that effect.

  17. Oh dear! Now that the 27th August Moon Mars hoax is behind us, it's going to be 17th October questions for several weeks.

It's not physically possible, at any location on Earth at any time for the Sun to rise, stay in the sky for 36 hours and then set. The only way it could happen is for the Earth's rotation speed to reduce to less than half its present rate. Since it's only slowed by about 1/1000th of a second per day in the last 200 years, it certainly isn't going to slow to half speed by October 17th.
