  1. No one knows where x is located in the "following right triangle," nor do they know where a, b, etc. are. Therefore, it is impossible for anyone to "help you out."

  2. ANSWER WORKS IF (A) AND (B) ARE LEGS OF THE TRIANGLE.

    a^2 + b^2 = x^2

    > 68^2 + 6^2 = x^2

    > 4624 + 36 = x^2

    > 4660 = x^2

    > x = about 68.264

  3. Unless x is the third side. And a and b are the other 2 sides that are at right angles to each other. Then just use the Pythagorean theorem. a squared plus b squared equals c squared (or x squared if it is as I said to begin with.)

Thus take the square root of (a squared plus b squared) to get your answer.

If you're not talking about the sides of a right triangle, then you need to give more info before an answer can be given to you. Sorry.
