  1. what caused this huge problem was the fact that these twins were separated and adopted out to two separate families.

That should never happen, never.   Twins should be kept together no matter what.  How could the agency, or whoever dealt with these adoptions, break twins up.  There are people around that would adopt twins.  I have known three  brothers and sisters adopted by one family.  It can be done and there is no excuse to separate twins, or siblings when it comes to putting them up for adoption.    The kind of reform I would like to see in adoption, is to see actions like the separation of a family of children, stopped.  I have seen actions where, because the Social Worker didn't have time to look for a couple who would take two together, then they were split up.  No time was taken to seriously look for a family who take more than one.  It basically was the choice of a social worker, who has no time to do a proper job.

As the world advances in many things, the adoption rules and regulations should change with the times.   If we want a world that is more positive than negative, then we must look after our children.   I don't think the Foster Service or the adoptive services, do the best job they can, and the whole procedure should be looked into, and changed.

    Children are our future.

  2. Wow, my mouth dropped after reading that!!!

  3. OMG OMG OMG its like a nightmare come true! OMG OMG

  4. Fortunately twins are no longer separated for adoption.

  5. Yes, that's tragic.  And yes, it is one of many reasons for reform.  I can't believe anyone is LAUGHING at this and saying this awful situation made their day.  Kinda sick to like people being hurt just to have something "prove your point"

  6. I think we can all agree that reform is a good idea, but I have a very hard time believing this story.  It seems like one of those stories that's reported by one source, and everyone else keeps just referring back to it.  Since they're not actually giving out any checkable details (like the names of the twins, the date of their wedding, or how they found out they were twins) there really is very little for us to go on.  How do we even know it's not a hoax?  As someone said in a previous answer, why on earth would anyone have IVF and then give the babies up for adoption?

As for reform, of course adoption needs reforms.  However, twins are almost never seperated any longer (unless one of them has a severe illness is disability) and even sibling groups are kept together whenever possible.

It is also important to note that the people who are up in arms over this story and spreading it like wildfire already believe adoption reforms have taken place.  They don't care one fig about adoption.  What they care about are people conceived with donor eggs or sperm - which is another thing entirely.  Twins would have no chance of marrying from donor eggs, but half siblings might.  They are just using the "twin" story to try to scare people into supporting their cause.  Unfortunately, it has the opposite effect on me.  I see some merit to their basic arguments, but I would never support a cause that uses a ridicuous and blatant scare tactic.

  7. Omg =O

    That it freaky!

  8. I don't feel that twins should ever be seperated upon adoption, but this article proves to me that something needs to change to prevent this from ever occuring....I have an adopted son & we didn't have any issues 38 years ago, fortunately,& he's always known that he was adopted.

  9. The weirdest part of this story is that the twins were conceived through IVF, which assumes the parents did, in fact, want children...but then they were given up for adoption.  Hmmmmm...

  10. Thanks for that information. One day the courts and laws will catch up to reality....
