hi

sanath jayasuriya has more wickets than lee, well 9 more actually, but still, as an opening batsmen to have 309 wickets, as well as some 12000 runs....

surely he can be more valuable than tendulkar as an all rounder, he can bat and take wickets...

  1. Ofcourse he is a true allrounder.  I think you are sour grapes vakayil k.  I can't think of 1 all rounder who bats as well as he bowls ( and vice versa ) never mind taking 309 wickets & has 12000 runs...

  2. Of course he is.

So many times i have seen Jayasuriya winning matches for Sri Lanka just with his bowling alone.

To add to it,he is a brilliant fielder as well. And the guy is giving you 32 runs in every match at a strike rate of 95.

What more is expected from an all rounder?

He is one of the best all rounders of this era.

He is very under-rated as a spinner. You don't get to bowl so many overs if you aren't an economical or a wicket taking bowler. 300 wickets odi wickets just tell us that he was a good spinner and the captains he played under had tremendous faith in his bowling.

A true all rounder and a legend of the game.

One of the 3 most respected cricketers of this era  in my eyes.

  3. he de man

  4. yes he is an allrounder.

  5. Ofcourse he is a true allrounder. I think you are sour grapes vakayil k. I can't think of 1 all rounder who bats as well as he bowls ( and vice versa ) never mind taking 309 wickets & has 12000 runs...

  6. off course he is.

  7. While Sanath Jayasuriya is a great utility player, I do not think he can be considered as an all rounder.

The generally accepted criterion is that a genuine all-rounder is someone whose batting or bowling skills, considered alone, would be good enough to win them a place on the team.Tne commonly used statistical rule  is that the batting average of an all-rounder (the higher the better) should be greater than the bowling average (the lower the better).

While the batting average of Jayasuriya in ODI is 32.60,his bowling average is 36.30.  Hence he cannot be considered as a all-rounder, but a part time bowler.

This is not at all to take away any credit from Sanath Jayasuriya, but I just mentioned the facts

  8. The enormous amount of respect I had for Sanath Jayasuria just increased.   309 wickets?   I tip my hat to the man.

  9. He is a true all rounder and called Master blaster  , and Gladiator~

  10. he is truely an allrounder

He noet only excel in batting but does well in bowling too

getiin more wickets than lee i do highly honour sanath

but then again he has been playing for a while

    he turned 39 this monday

that is old but still he could hit a century

a legend and truely is one

sachin is equally good that is probably why they are both named master blaster

  11. Master Blaster with 98 in test and 310 in ODI

    5 wickets in innings

    Test 2       ODI  4

    Wickets

    Test 98        ODI 310

he is a true all rounder

Sanath has more wickets than Shoaib Akhtar

    i neva knew OMG!!!!

  12. He is not called Gladiator for nothing.

  13. yes

  14. He has taken a lot less than 1 wicket per match so NO he isnt a true all-rounder

  15. There is no doubt of this. He is a genuine alrounder. One thing is that he is now in good form again. As a alrounder he is better than Sachin. But he is not so technically sounded bats man like Sachin.
