Wrap up of third day of European qualifiers – 2012 CEV Junior Volleyball European Championship
The third day of the European qualifier of the 2012 CEV Junior Volleyball European Championship – Men took place on April 13.
The matches were being played in Bar in Montenegro. The third day saw six teams competing against each other in three matches. These were Italy, Finland, Sweden, Belarus, Greece and the home team of Montenegro.
The first match of the day took place between Italy as well as Finland. The contest between the two sides went on for four sets which ended with a surprise victory for the Finns. The final set scores stood at the following points at the end of the day: 25-22,
15-25 and 27-25.
The second match of the day saw the Swedish play against the Belarus squad. The game did not take as long to reach its end as the match ended in three straight sets. The Swedish team was able to make a clean sweep over Belarus and seal a victory. The first
set of the match was the only one in which the Belarus squad was able to provide its counter parts with tough competition as the opening frame went long and close.
However, after losing the first set of the game, the Belarus team lost their motivation and let the second as well as the third sets slip out of their hands at a significant margin. The scoreboard showed the following final set scores: 28-26, 25-11, and
25-17.
The final match of the day saw the home team clash with the Greek players. Like the previous match, the third game also took three sets to reach its close.
At the end of the day, the Greek were celebrating their well deserved win at the following final set scores: 26-24, 25-15, and 25-18.
The first set of the match saw both the teams fight hard for a win but the score remained close throughout the opening frame. At the end, it was the Greek squad that got themselves a win. On the other hand, the second as well as the third sets of the match
were easily won by Greece as the home team did not put in much of an effort.
