Wrapped up aircraft carrier.?

Why is the aircraft carrier in San Diego wrapped up in white plastic? Is this the USS George Washington that had a fire?

  1. Yeah have to agree with Duck, when they do work on ships there are a lot of small nasty particles that they NAVY doesn't want to be released into the environment  


  2. Yes it is the George Washington that had the fire - she in San Diego undergoing her repairs Estimated cost 70 MILLION

    She is scheduled to set sail Aug 21st for Japan where she is scheduled to replaced the USS Kitty Hawk which was based there,

  3. It is very likely that they are stripping/sanding/repainting the ship.  The plastic is there to keep the EPA happy.  And to keep the salt air out of the bare metal.
