Wrecked bro-in-law car?

a few months ago i got in an accident with my bro-in-laws truck now my insuance cover his truck and his cover the other car. but now he is getting sued by driver aside from him sueing me where do i come in

  1. He is the owner of the truck that is on the registration, that is why you dont borrow other peoples vehicles.

    You will come in when his insurance runs out.


  2. You are completely responsible for your actions--don't ever borrow a car or lend yours out.  He is sued but YOU were operating the car--so you pay whatever the judge sets.

  3. He can be sued as the owner of the vehicle,  for allowing you to drive it.

    You can be sued as the driver that caused the wreck.    

    Lawsuits generally are after the full amount of insurance coverage,  but your  bro-in-law and you can be held for any amount over that.
