Wrestling Legend: Goldberg – Part 2
Goldberg was without a shadow of a doubt THE MOST Dominant wrestler in WCW and WWE. Wrestling fans still remember the days when Goldberg stormed the ring with all his fury and decimated his opponent in a matter of moments. Goldberg won 173 consecutive fights during his stay in WCW. After WCW was bought by WWE, Goldberg left the United States to fight in Japan. After three long years, wrestling fans in WWE finally saw the arrival of Goldberg back to the ring.
However it was not a normal and average debut as Goldberg entered the ring in his familiar dominant style and speared The Rock in the middle of the ring. The two great wrestlers locked horns at Backlash, Pay per View in a one on one singles wrestling match. Even a great wrestler like The Rock failed to stand up against the power of Goldberg and lost the match. After the grueling fight, The Rock admitted that no wrestler had ever beaten him in such a convincing and quick manner. That was a tribute to the great and legendary Goldberg and a sign of hard times for other wrestlers in WWE.
The fight between Goldberg and The Rock signaled the start of a new destructive era in WWE. Goldberg literally destroyed and decimated many great wrestlers like Christian and Chris Jericho during his journey to the top of the ladder. To become the World Heavy Weight Champion, Goldberg needed to beat the Game, Triple H. However, Triple H was not alone in his fight against Goldberg and was joined by the ruthless group, Evolution. Evolution consisted of the great wrestlers like Batista, Randy Orton and the Hall of Famer, Ric Flair. However the numbers game did not stop Goldberg as he destroyed all Evolution members one after another.
Goldberg then fought a tough and grueling Elimination Chamber match which would be remembered for ages. Goldberg eliminated all his opponents one after another in the demonic steel structure. After witnessing the carnage and destruction, Triple H actually refused to come out of his glass chamber. Ric Flair helped Triple H and locked Triple H’s glass chamber. It was a chaotic situation as Goldberg wanted to destroy Triple H and was waiting for him to come out. Goldberg then walked towards Triple H’s glass chamber and broke it by delivering punches and kicks. Even the bullet proof glass could not save Triple H from the dominance of the great Goldberg. However Triple H won the match when he disregarded the rules of professional wrestling and knocked down Goldberg with a Sledge Hammer. Goldberg then made history when he won the World Heavy Weight Championship after defeating Triple H in a grueling match at Unforgiven.
After years in the WCW and WWE, Goldberg faced one of the most difficult challenges of his life, Brock Lesnar. Brock who is currently the Mixed Martial Arts champion at UFC was the youngest WWE Champion of his time. Brock Lesnar used to intimidate his opponents in and outside the ring with his dominating attitude. It was an explosive moment when it was decided that Brock Lesnar and Goldberg would fight in a historic match at Wrestle Mania XX. For weeks these two wrestlers feuded with each other in various cities. During this great feud the crowd was overwhelmingly at the side of Goldberg and chanted for him.
It was a classic match when Goldberg faced off against Brock Lesnar in the match of a life time in front of thousands of fans. These two beasts ripped each other apart during the match and tried to execute the wrestling finishers. However after the long and grueling fight, it was Goldberg who came on top and pinned Brock Lesnar in the middle of the ring.
Goldberg will always be remembered as the most destructive, dominant and fearless fighter in the history of professional wrestling.
