Wrestling: NXT Rookie Lucky Cannon eliminated in less than 5 minutes by pro Cody Rhodes
It was a rare match that was hard to imagine few weeks ago. No one expected that in the second week on NXT, things will heat up to such an unprecedented level that a professional wrestler will challenge a wrestling rookie to a one on one wrestling challenge. The professional wrestler was Cody Rhodes, the arrogant second generation wrestler who is known of berating other wresters in front of the wrestling world. The wrestling rookie was Lucky Cannon, who believed in the power of luck and thought that he will win every match with his fighting skills and help from fate. Cody Rhodes berated Lucky Cannon last week and challenged him to a match on NXT.
However this was not an ordinary wrestling match as the former World Tag Team Champion, Cody Rhodes was so certain of his fighting skills that he challenged the rookie and vowed that he will beat Lucky Cannon in less than 5 minutes. So now there was a stop watch before the start of the match as the prestige, respect and fame of Cody Rhodes was on the line and he was ready to give it all to defeat Lucky Cannon in less than 5 minutes. Cody Rhodes entered the ring with his rookie, the son of famous wrestler, I.R.S, “Husky Harris” and walked towards the ring in an arrogant manner. Lucky Cannon who entered the ring, with the strongest man in the world, “Mark Henry”, received an extremely positive response from the crowd.
All eyes were on the rookie, Lucky Cannon and the professional wrestler, Cody Rhodes. Cody Rhodes did not take long in the start of the match as he quickly delivered his knee in the abdomen of Lucky Cannon. Cody Rhodes then pursued an extremely aggressive strategy and delivered punches and kicks to different parts to the body of Lucky Cannon. It seemed for a moment that the rookie is no match against the power and determination of the professional wrestler. But then to the surprise of every one, Lucky Cannon made a comeback in the match by tossing Cody Rhodes high in the air and then smashing his body on the ring floor.
Lucky Cannon quickly went for the cover but Cody Rhodes kicked out before the referee could count to three. There was electricity in the air as suddenly the momentum of the match shifted in favour of Lucky Cannon. It would have been a great upset if Lucky Cannon had succeeded to defeat and pin Cody Rhodes in front of millions of wrestling fans watching the NXT wrestling show. Lucky Cannon was on the attack and many thought that Lucky Cannon will pass the 5 minutes stipulation by staying in the match for a longer time.
Then Cody Rhodes did an unexpected move and used the leverage of the middle rope of the ring to kick the face of Lucky Cannon. The kick drained all the energy from the body of Lucky Cannon and presented an ideal opportunity for Cody Rhodes to finish the match. Cody Rhodes grabbed the body of Lucky Cannon and executed his wrestling finisher called the “Cross Roads”. In this wrestling finisher, Cody Rhodes grabs the body of his opponent and rolls it to smash the face on the ring floor. Cody Rhodes went for the cover as the referee counted to three with both shoulders of Lucky Cannon touching the ring floor.
It was all over in 3 min and 58 seconds and Cody Rhodes kept his word by beating the rookie in less than 5 minutes. Perhaps this is the end of the career for Lucky Cannon who might become the first rookie to be eliminated from NXT season 2. The stakes are high and it is premature to say the final word. Keep your fingers crossed as the professional wrestlers of WWE and the wrestling fans vote for the first elimination on NXT wrestling season 2.
