Wrexham Challenger tennis championship: Sania Mirza knocked down by Heather Watson
The current youth persona of India, the professional tennis player, Sania Mirza was knocked down by the England tennis ace, Heather Watson in the final of Wrexham Challenger tennis championship which was held in Whales yesterday with a final match score as 6-2, 6-4.
In her doubles final battle as well a day earlier, the Indian tennis ace along with her partner Emma Laine was hammered down by Stephenson and Tara Moore with a final match score as 6-2, 3-6, 11-13.
In an interview after both the final losses, the newly wedded Mirza said that, “I am glad with the way I have performed in this championship. I am expecting to perform even better in the future,” the twenty four years old Sania Mirza commented.
“However, my target at the moment is definitely to perform at my very best at the Delhi Commonwealth Games as well as the Asian Games, towards the end of this season”, Mirza added.
Born in the city of Mumbai, the right handed Sania Mirza turned pro back in 2003. The next year, the girl was granted with an Arjuna award by the government of her country, India. The Indian tennis ace is famous for her strong forehand ground hits.
Talking about her last year’s performances, the sensational Mirza grabbed her very first Grand Slam trophy at the hard court Australian Open championship. Teamed up with Mahesh Bhupathi, the s**y tennis ace with a deep brown eyes succeeded in her doubles competition by knocking down Andy Ram and Nathalie Dechy in the final match held in the city of Melbourne with a final match score as 6–3, 6–1.
The 1.73 meters tall Sania, later on appeared at the Pattaya Women’s Open championship which was held in Bangkok where she managed to make her way into the finals after a couple of good performances. However, the India Muslim girl was knocked down in the finals by Vera Zvonareva with a match score as 7–5, 6–1. Mirza also made her way into the semi final of the same championship.
Later on, the hard working Sania, participated in the BNP Paribas Open championship where she was hammered down in the round number two by Flavia Pennetta. The sizzling young girl then took part in the Miami Masters however was knocked down once again this time by Mathilde Johansson, a tennis ace from France in the very first round of the tournament. However, Sania teamed up with Chia- Jung Chuang, a Chinese tennis player reached the semi final of the doubles championship.
In the same year, the hard hitting Mirza lost in the round number one of the MPS Group tournaments however triumphed in the doubles event along with Chuang. Talking about her performance at the major events last year, the player with a healthy face was kicked out in the round number one at the Roland Garros by Galina Voskoboeva. As far as her doubles performance is concerned, the girl was knocked down in the round number along with her partner Chuang and in the mixed doubles while teamed up with Mahesh Bhupathi.
The hot looking Sania also contested in the AEGON Classic during the same year and successfully managed to make her way into the semi final round where she eventually lost to Magdalena Rybarikova 3–6, 6–0, 6–3.
As far as her this season’s major performances are concerned, the dazzling Sania Mirza has performed at her very best neither at the French Open nor at the grass court Grand Slam tournament. However, her fans are still hoping to see their tennis icon back in action for the rest of the season.
