Question:

Wrist Tattoos and Bruising/Needles?

Yes I realize many questions have been asked about wrist tattoos, I want one but I'm not worried about the overall pain and what not. What I am worried about tho is I'm in hospital alot and I have to get abg's alot, which are arterial blood gasses, they take the blood from your artery in your wrist and I was just wondering if needle marks would affect the tattoo at all? Also would bruising affect the quality of the tattoo? I don't have the tattoo right now but contemplating getting it soon and as for hospital. It's kind of random depending on when I get sick.

Should I maybe just find another place to put the tattoo? Or would it not affect it at all? Thanks

Also please don't respond if you don't even have a tattoo - Your answers aren't really taken seriously in the yahoo questions unless you know about what your talking about.

  1. The wrist tat isn't IN the vein. It's just under the skin and has no effect on getting blood taken. I have a wrist tat and have no problems giving blood or having it be an issue at all. It's not noticed at all in most cases. Bruising WILL affect the tat depending on what colors are used and what you plan on getting. My tat is "covering" a vein in my arm but it does not in any way affect a needle taking blood. The tat only goes so far in the skin---not anywhere near the artery or vein. Get one and don't worry about what people think. Just make sure it's what YOU want. I don't regret mine in the least!!!

  2. you should ask your doctor

  3. I've had my wrist tattoo for a while, and I was in the hospital once since I got it. Nothing happened with the needles or anything. I agree with the first guy about the bruising and everything. It may come out a little different. Other than that, it's probably fine, but you should ask your doctor if it will affect anything, and ask wherever you plan on getting your tattoo done if that tattoo will get a little screwy.
