Wrist watch question?

i have an autowinding watch by stauer and it says its water resistant up to 5atm. Now for the question. I work in a surf and turf resturant and occasionaly have to submerse my hands into water, will this affect my watch?

  1. "Water Resistant" is by no means "Water Proof." However, to get a pressure of 5 atmospheres you'd have to dive to a depth of about 50 meters. I doubt that submerging your hands in water will damage your watch.


  2. ATM (atmosphere) is the amount of pressure put on the watch before it leaks.

    So, in your case, your watch could resist up to 50 meters (165 feet.) So, if you're not submerging your hands 50 feet, I think you'll be okay. :)
