Dayton Inc has a power plant on a 800ft wide river. To lay a new cable from the plant to a location in the city 2mi downstream on the opp.side costs $180 per foot across the river and $100 per foot along the land.

Suppose that the cable goes from the plant to a pt. Q on the opp. side that is x ft from the pt P directly opp. the plant

  1. Yes, I believe that the answer would be C(x) = 144000 +100*x with x in feet and C(x) in dollars as you said previously.
