  1. I sort of agree with the other answerers, but I will give you a little more. Here's a letter from a young person--just as it was written, with all the typos, omissions, erroneous words, etc., on November 6, 1940--to MR. Roosevelt, who had just won his third term as president of the United States--the first president to do so and, unless the U.S. Constitution is amended again, the last one to do so (FDR won a fourth term, but died in office shortly thereafter):

    "Mr. Franklin Roosvelt

    President of the United States

    My good friend Roosvelt,

I don't know very English, but I know as much as write to you. I like to hear the radio, and I am very happy, because I hear in it, that you will be President for a new (periodo)

I am twelve years old. I am a boy but I think very much but I do not think that I am writting to the President of the United States.

If you like give me a ten dollars bill green american, in the letter, because never, I have not seen a ten dollar bill green american and I would like to have one of them.

    My address is:

    [Name]

    Colegio de Dolores

    Santiago de Cuba

    Oriente, Cuba

I don't know very English but I know very much Spanish and I suppose you don't know very much Spanish but you know very English because you are American but I am not American.

    Thank you very much.

    Good by.

    Your friend,

    [Name]

If you want iron to make yours [crossed out]SHEAPS[crossed out] ships I will show to you the bigest (minas) of iron of the land. They are in Mayari Oriente Cuba."

I send this to you to encourage you to do your own work because, if you do so, you'll be amazed at what else you'll find and learn along the way. Also, if some Spanish kid from the sticks younger than you could write this almost 60 years ago to the president of the United States, you could at least do a little work to find the answer to the Eleanor Roosevelt question on your own. Finally, maybe you could work this letter into your paragraph about Mrs. Roosevelt, and really impress your teacher.

Good luck. Oh, the kid who wrote the letter? His name was Fidel Castro.
